This isn't really a WIP post, but I couldn't see where else to put this...

Has anyone else run into a weird glitch with Hammer where the prop models and player spawn models etc. are completely distorted and broken in the 3D view?

    [Blocked Image: http://www.surrogateinteractive.com/shattered.jpg]

It seems to happen intermitantly every few times I load Hammer.

And most importantly, anyone know why this happens or how to stop it?

I have seen quite a lot of wierd Source problems and I also remember to have seen this once or twice, not a common problem for me though.

I'm pretty sure it's because of the last Steam update. Nothing to do except wait for the next update.

Yeah, I figured that might be the reason cause it didn't start happening until the last update.

    Thanks!

Yes, it's because of the update, can't do nothing untill a new update i believe. One of the reasons i hate steam, we get shitloads of updates with something or everything totally *ucked up. Hope we have a change to this soon.

just make a shortcut to hammer on your desktop and add -dxlevel 80 to the command parameters. that'll be a nice work around.. same for modelviewer.

oh and dont forget to start steam anyway

Yeah, I'm fairly certain it has something to do with ATI cards. My computer has a nvidia card and I haven't run into this problem. Then just the other day I was trying some mapping on my friends computer who has an ATI card and I got the same problem. I thought it was quite strange at the time but apparently several other people have the same problem.

The dx8 fix works for me, and I have upgraded my ati drivers when Episode I was released. Maybe that's the soft spot too.

This is the wiki page about this problem: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SDK_workaround
