Well other than MGS4 I didn't see too many pre-rendered stuff.
Even the Halo 3 trailer used the in-game engine.
I'm not specifically talking about this year - but in general, at e3, the pre rendered trailers should have no place there. It makes me think twice about buying/renting the game when it sees a release. Honestly, how can I trust a game to be good that showed up at e3 with a 'gameplay' trailer that wasn't even in the damned game.
Shit.

They did? I must have missed that.
Well, anyway, whatever that trailer was made from, "in engine" doesn't mean "in game"
Yes they did.
And MGS4 was as much "in game" as Halo 3. The funny thing is that everytime a new MGS trailer comes out people need proof that it's real

Tell me about it, and each time, without fail, the final product looks better than the trailers.

Killzone left a bad taste in your mouth?
Sony must be the worst offender for that kind of stuff.

I haven't seen much this year's E3 content but Crysis jungle video was amazing. Loved everything in it.

No what I mean was, the pacing and camera angles most of the time didn't feel like it was possible for someone to be controlling a character if that were footage of a game demo, not to mention the precision of the animations etc.
When someone says "in game" i think "game demo". For example, Gearbox showed actual live gameplay from BIA:HH. I watched it twice in a row so I know that was in game.
What I saw running up on the screen of MGS4 was not a live in game demo obviously. So did they record someone playing the game? Yes/No?
If yes, I bow to thee, Konami. If no, what was it? Two options: footage rendered in the game engine using in game assets etc, or it was something else. What was it?
What was it?
What was it?
What was it?

You know those movie clips in MGS games done with the games engine? It was one of those and that's what the game looks like grafically. So "in engine" would be the most accurate way to put it.
No playable bits have been shown yet but I have no doubt that the gameplay will be awesome, like it always has been in MGS games.

Yeah, in-engine but not playable. A cutscene in other words, and we all know how elaborate MGS cutscenes can get.

I'll sum it up... What I hate about e3:
-way overhyped
-pre rendered 'gameplay footage'
-teasers for games that will be released in more than a year's time
-CG game trailers
-is it ever held in a different city?
-did I mention it's overhyped?
-crappy games with no imagination get the limelight
That's all for now.
-
How is it overhyped?

The whole point of the event is promotion, and besides its really the only show of its kind that consumers take an interest in. The GDC only appeals to developers of course. How can it be overhyped if there is nothing else to compare it to?
I think you are just bitter. Perhaps at the overtaking of PC games by the consoles, or some other issue?
-
the games are overhyped is what I'm saying. IE: the games that will come out in two years are overhyped... I'd rather see covereage of the GDC than covereage of e3.
