Besides the fact that its never coming out, Hostile Intent (LOL EVERYONE CRACK THE NEVER BEING RELEASED JOKE~) got its name stolen. About a month ago, someone made a thread in the forums saying there is another game with the same name. They copyrighted the name that (the real) Hostile Intent has been using for a few years. On top of that, they claimed that they did research for the name (Yeah, bull shit). So Ikusagwai, one of the team members calls Gamespy and talks to their CEO and stuff, but apparently, the other game gets to keep the name. So effectively, they stole the name. Is that not bull shit? So now we are being forced to change the name of the mod.

You can read some more on the main page here:

I remember reading the moment you publish a webpage, all materials and titles become copyright material of the publisher(s).

no, you have to state that you are copyrighting your material (with a copyright warning) assuming it isn't violating somebody else's copyright. You also have to defend your copyright against other people's usage. You still "own" it, but copyright is a different issue than ownership.

And from a purely "if it happened to me" way of looking at it, dont use his stuff without his permission. If I had just broken up with a mod and didnt want my work being used, I would be very pissed off if they did.

Maybe so, but this person quit because some of his messages were deleted like "suck my hairy cock." And other immature statements which simply weren't tolerated.

Being a totally asshole and attempting to screw a team over by forcing all his work to be removed, about 8 months of work, really isn't justified. We'll probably find some legal way to get it or just use it anyway.

If we use it anyway and it ends up we can't use his material it will take a large amount of money to fund a international case, and he can't state his case till this mod is released, and even then it might take an extra 6 months to a year to finalize. By then we won't even care.

On another note, if art is slightly modified it's completely legal to use right?
