    Hi there,

about one year ago I decided to start work on another map called hdn_resident. It's for the modification Hidden:Source ( http://www.hidden-source.com - dont know if you know about it)

Well ok, Im just posting around screens to get some CnC

    So, here we go:

    [Blocked Image: http://freak.eqil.de/hdn_resident01.jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://freak.eqil.de/hdn_resident02.jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://freak.eqil.de/hdn_resident03.jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://freak.eqil.de/hdn_resident04.jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://freak.eqil.de/hdn_resident05.jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://freak.eqil.de/hdn_resident06.jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://freak.eqil.de/hdn_resident07.jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://freak.eqil.de/hdn_resident08.jpg]

This is 100% custom. So, all work is done by me.

    greetings from Germany

the mansion looks sweet. The spider web looks like cums stanes though. Too smugged. I really like the detail in the textures and the brushwork makes it feel alot like old resident evils mansion.

Yeah I saw this over on the Hidden forums, looking sweet man! Love the atmosphere.

I love the extended ceilings with rafters etc., on first glance I thought there wasn't enough pounce room until I looked closer and saw some sneaky hiding spots.

looks really cool, I hope to get back into teh hidden now that the new beta is out. My suggestion would be for more rafters and such for the hidden to hide (always fun)

Looks great and i love the atmosphere. Maybe you could use more detail, models and brushwork, displacement and such because i think indoor map like this can afford it. Keep it up!

Fantastic work, looks nothing like c17 which is quite rare in the field of hl2 mapping. Custom content looks good, also I love that dojo map.

You've really got rid of the generic hl2 mood.

That's looking great, one thing which needs some work is the wood textures, they have these bright marks all over them on some shots, maybe it's the specular? Anyway looks weird, maybe because everything is wooden it also reminds me of the inside of a ghost ship, but maybe that's just me

Very nice! And very ambitios too. I agree with what most people already said.

    I must try Hidden.

first of all: thanks for all your positive comments

spiderwebs: yes, i know they are crap theyll be fixed in later version. didnt find time to make them more detailed. a lot of work is still waiting in this map.

another point relating to spiderwebs is that die hidden has a clear shape, when hes in front of them. maybe i have to delete them completly.

i could try to make the texture blend additive (its alpha-channel right now) maybe that could fix the problem. we'll see

and yes i will also see in which way im able to tweak the wood-wall-texture

    stay tuned

    Ah really nice.

I like the textures even tho they might be a bit too much in the same brownish colour. I think it works well in this map anyhow so.

Only thing like someone else mentioned is that the spiderweb looks a bit too smudged.

Great job so far at least!

Very nice some shots remind me of Clive Barker's Undying

undying: i have heard about the name but dont actually know something about it

resident evil: well, ok of course in some details i was inspired by the game but I think that looks different

spiderwebs: already said enough about it

indoor/outdoor: definitely there will be whether one big outdoor area or several small. i dont know yet. desicions about such stuff come up while im mapping.

Looking good. Spookiest environments I have found are in the Project Zero/Crimson butterfly series. Anyone making an eerie type of map would do well to check the series out for inspiration.

Definately reminds of the RE remake, but that's not a bad thing. I think it could do with some more detail, such as books on the floor, torn bits of wallpaper, perhaps break one of the lampshades too. Lastly I agree that it looks a bit too brown in places, you might want to experiment with the colour a bit. For WIP it looks very snazzy though, good start

On the subject of Undying, the game is produced by Clive Barker who created Hellraiser, Candyman and other nasty horror serials. Although it's old (1999), It's still very good, it uses a hub system as you travel around a mansion trying to find out what has happened to the home of a guy who is a friend of yours from the Civil war.

Check this out for more info:

thx for the link and of course for your criticism

but...well, there are books in the map but theyre just in one room at the moment. I will add some more all over the map. be shure about that.

and of course there will be details like riven (?) wallpaper.

but i cant do everything at once

that will be the very last tweaking-part
