This is why there's a thing called betatesting, de_dam_facility_fixed looks and sounds harsh and people will have many versions of the map out there. Still looks cool tho

nah, only one release before this. This was the fixed version that addressed a few things that were missed in beta testing. sucks i know but Id rather have a bug free version out there.

write final instead of fixed next time. it seems more professional - like you didn't make a mistake in the first place, just made it better.

    bingo!

    good call. thx.

And thinking about it... maybe I can wait for Valve or TRS to release tides in HDR, that way i don't have to touch the skybox. There's my final

    Ok, here my thoughts:

I encoutered severe FPS-Problems when are you outside and especially when you are looking at the Dam.

I think that you have to optimize that.... Sorry...

Okay thanks, I used two systems in my own tests.

    System 1:

    Athlon 2500+

    1 GB RAM

    6800 GT

1024X768 AA 2x, medium for rest of settings. HDR: no / Bloom: no

Indoors were smooth, outdoors played fairly well. I did get some fps drops here and there outside but never unplayable, averaged around 25 – 50 outside and 60+ indoors.

    System 2:

    Intel 930 3.0 GHz

    1 GB RAM

    6800 GT OC

1024x768 AA 4x, high for rest of settings, HDR: no / Bloom: yes

    Indoors extremely smooth – 100+ fps, outdoors average 50 – 90 fps

Next time I won’t design the map around such a large open area. Since beta 1a this map has dramatically improved fps if you can believe it. In the end I wish I could have made most of the dam a model or at least a func_detail. Also the ceiling was quiet high because of the dam. That sorta threw a wrench into the mix. Overall I learned many things when I created this map. I didn’t take the large open areas in consideration when I originally worked on the layout. Lesson learned…. Thanks for the feedback.
