Great movie!! First movie to EVER be like a video game. It did everything right. I give it 9 out of 10

It was also the first game movie to have a decent story and some puzzles to go along with, or paths to follow like a game. Some great violence to, especially towards the end, very bloody! Couple things towards the end I didnt like though, mainly about how they told the story, but the overall movie was impressive since it was so much like the game.

Now all the retarded directors that make game movies need to follow this path

Resident Evil wasn't bad. It even had side-boob action.

I hope you are fucking kidding. This was the worst movie ever since Troll 2 and YOG: Monster From Space

Towards the end of Silent Hill with the barbwire I just couldn't stop laughing anymore.... but..."everything is gonna be alright" loloololol.

Seriously, the only cool thing about the movie was that scary zombie guy with the massive sword.

Been hearing a huge range of opinions about this movie, from regular folks and critics alike. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what I think when I get around to seeing it. Trailers have looked good though, so I'm relatively optimistic.

    both camps are right.

on one hand the movie has some truly neat visuals and there are some crazy messed up deaths that happen.

on the other hand the acting and dialogue are laugh out loud hilarious. well worth the price of admission.

I agree about the visuals... The SFX are outstanding and the triangle-head sword guy looked really damn scary and awesome. I love the scene where he rips that girls skin off her body and throws her guts against the door.

The dialogue, acting and writing were horrible however, IMO.

wow, you guys dont know a good movie if it hit you in the face

The only bad dialog was the little girl at the end mainly.

    Movie was really cool.

Remeber this isnt for you Brokeback Mountain fans, muhahaha

I do enjoy how everyone took this movie so seriously. Yes it tried to stay serious and I am glad it did. If it went the shitty route of Alone in the Dark and any other Uwe Boll Shit, then I would agree with everyone. The thing with these movies is to just shut off your brain and not think at all. I enjoyed it thoroughly, despite the 20 minutes of exsposition towards the end. No it wasn't oscar-worthy, yes the acting was terrible.

Having not played the games, I thought it told a rather good story (sort of), at least well enough for me to understand what the fuck was going. Now some people next to me didn't understand the ending, but being in Texas I have become used to morons who don't understand the easiest of things. From the first 10 minutes or so once they entered silent hill, I knew it was going to take an almost Japanese cinematic approach.

It was different, it was the action-packed waste that was Resident Evil and hardly the horrible Super Mario Brothers.

As Mike said, it is hardly the worst movie, and also hardly the best movie. I went in not expecting anything and I went away pleased and happy.

ugh!!! why do I highlight such hidden text!!!

I'm affraid this will have to go on my Netflix list once it comes out on DVD.

It got a 24% on Rotten Tomatoes, which means for a video game movie it may actually be entertaining.

Played them before? If not, you're in for such a treat. Especially with 2.

Don't be a girl, though. Play 'em when it's nice and dark.

They just released a pack for the PS2 with Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 in it for £30. Pretty damn good bargain, but as the only one I'm missing is 3, not much point in me picking it up really.

Fucking hell, that's brilliant. They should release SH1 for PC...

Teq: Played them at a mate's house while back, but not in great detail
