VERY nice, crazy attention to detail. Only thing which bothered me was when following the screenshots and looking at the interior, with the broken tiles everywhere, worn down wallpapers, a garage with an old van and bikes hanging beneath the ceiling etc. it looked to me more like a run down appartment in a big city or even an industrial area. Then suddenly shots of nicely decorated timber-framed walls showed up, a fireplace burning outside along with skiing equipment lined up next to it.

These look like 2 different levels to me, maybe it feels more consistent and inside - outside transitions smoother when running through the level, but I think you should either make it completely run down, or a romantic lodge also from the inside Just my 2 cents!

Skills as usual Vivi. Excellent attention to detail throughout.

I do kinda agree with Freichamp however, whilst the map is a joy to look at, there is a slight schizm of styles going on there. One part looks kinda NMRIH/Resi Evil, and would make you expect to find some gloomy forest outside the front door, whilst the other half leads me to think I would emerge in a run down, inner city slum.

This is just me splitting hairs though don't let it discourage you in any way, the map looks awesome. Top 5% IMO.

Some developer really should snap you up asap.

Looks quite exqusite indeed. Although one thing that bugs me is the light bulbs in this picutre:http://www.generalvivi.lawgiver.us/imag ... e20026.jpg

Are the lights actually on? If so it looks like the light is only half turned on inside the bulb, and on the lower half too which is odd . Unless of course I'm mistaken and its light coming from something else perhaps. But otherwise there's a great use of detail here, nice job.

yeah i havn't worked much on the lighting in this room yet and i plan on goign back and fixing this.

Huh, awesomeness. Love the detail. Only thing that disturbed me was the ground in the 1st pic, what material is it supposed to be? Looks odd. Maybe a displacement for it (depending on what material it is)?

its a garage with concrete and leaves all covering it and at the entrance is snow pouring in from the outside.

I do feel this way sometimes when im working on it but i will try and bring it more together and work on the transitions more to make it look like a winter lodge .

    Vivi that wins, really.

Is this for NMRIH? Or just like.. a portfolio eyecandy type map?

the idea origionated from a nmrih map idea of a lodge a while back but was never for nmrih. I decided after starting this map that i should pay tribute to my favorite weapon in css by making the map dedicated to the tmp gun . You can also say that this is eyecandy for my portfolio but the map will be actually playable and not just for looks like so many people do for their portfolios.

i have put forth a lot of extra effort to bring the map back up to speed . Fixing all the crap i messed up back then takes a bit because i know so much more in mapping now then i did back then.

Looks amazing. Very atmospheric. The dead man in the bath is a great touch. That must have been a very wild party.

Construcive crits: The leaves on the floor in the first pic are all contained in the bottom part of the floor, yet there are none on the raised bits. I think the ladder leading up to the bed in the second pic is a bit blocky. Maybe the steps should be more inside the outer frame area. Another issue might be the holes in the wall, which seem to have a prepared look.

Looks like a very seedy place. Some porn magazines could be a fitting detail.

The players will bring their own porno. I can't count the number of times I've seen the streets of de_dust2 plastered with softcore porn.

    Anyways, cool map Vivi!

lol! yes its probably best to leave the pornos out. I was thinking more Metal Gear Solid style where you throw the magazine on the floor, and the guards take a keen interest in it. Would be fun to shoot someone because their attention was taken by a magazine of some sort.

Heh! Just that the map has a kind of crack den feel to it. I imagine crack pipes, ash trays, dead bodies (like the one in the bath), weed plants, razor blades, needles and all the rest of the stuff that might acompany such a place. Similar to what Friechamp said about a run down apartment in a big city type thing.

Maybe I am looking too much into it
