I just read on PHL that it now costs 10 dollars via STEAM.

stupid, who would want to pay 10 bucks just so they can just make gman having sex with alex
Seems completely reasonable to me. Garry has put loads and loads of time into the mod, and from what I understand he was ready to just pack it all in and let it die. Instead, he's willing to continue — if he gets a little payback for his hard work.
I guess it's about making a choice between the mod being left to go stale and ultimately become incompatible with Source (this has happened before, and without continued development it'd be dead already), or continue being developed for a small price. Which is preferred?
wtf? I gotta pay for garry's mod, now? It wasnt even that cool before.
Welcome to Steam, the place where they can charge for just about anything now.

That's pretty much my opinion, really what is worth even 10 dollars of Garry's mod?
Lets see:
-Screenshots of the gman bending over alyx.
-For mods to fake screenshots.
-Roleplayers took it over to be dumb in like in The Specialists.
I don't see it at all being worth a cent, I think it's going to be a grand upset in profits.
if one person buys it he'll have made more than he ever would have if he didnt sell it
Hmm I'd like to see your calculations before I believe you Bic.
My opinion is this. Garry's Mod.
Mod.
Not retail game.
what's the big deal?
if you want it, pay for it
if not, then dont.
listen to postman's sig.
i think its a pretty fair price for what you get. i mean you can do a hell of a lot of things at the click of a few buttons with gary's mod that would take a lot more effort without it... depends on what you want to use it for what makes the price acceptable...
I think it is totally ok! I am no fan of Garrys mod and I will never buy it, but I can't see why anyone should have anything against that he tries to sell it. To me it just sounds fair that he wants a bit of money for the hard work he does.
The new financial model where they get an engine license without paying for it is a very interesting thing for indie developers. It should make it much easier to sell an indie game now where you don't have to spend so much money on being an engine license.

I haven't checked the mod out (even tough I have one of the latest versions installed) it just doesn't seem to apeal that much to me.
If there are people what think its worth the few 10$ sure why not.
But perhaps Steam was better off with some sort of donation system as well for sertain mods, or pretty soon everybody what puts together a singleplayer is gonna charge for it.
And modding becomes a greedy money bisness ? ![]()
It's fun for about 5 minutes. If you want to pay $10 for such joy, then more fool you.
I've played Garry's Mod since version 6 and it was fun but gets boring fast. Me and a friend usually had Fort Wars / Wooden Wars but Garry's Mod is too unstable and crashes a lot. It's nice to see Garry getting money for his hard work but I'm not going to buy it. Doesn't interest me no more. I've done all I can think of in it, got bored and impatient with it so I don't want to waste money on it.
That's what I'm saying. Modifications like DOD:Source and Sin Episodes, I understand their for pricing because of the content and time put into it. With a mod you basically goof around it? Eh.
And also, with about 9+ previously releases out there still, likely it's a small majority really who'd buy the newest one. I hope garry tells us the number of accounts sold the first week, I'm interested to hear.
Worth money? For some people maybe...
Worth $10 to me? No.
Paying for mods seems like an alright concept to me. Provided the creators actually put commitment into providing a finished product and continued support for that product, I've got no problem with it.
More power to him I say. £6 is like virtually nothing.
If it means the mod continues development when it wouldn't have otherwise and he gets a few bucks in the process then good.
