-backwards compatabilty with Gamecube (in some form

-entire Nintendo back catalog available to download

    And now we can add:

    -Genesis catalog

    -TurboGrafix catalog

Oh, and the PS3 is never coming out. Ever.

    how awesome is Nintento?

last weekend i located the missing power cable to my girlfriend's old SNES and the past week she's been playing supermario world that she had when she was in middle school over a decade ago. her old saved games were still intact. It looks great on her HD TV and she's having so much fun. I think I'm buying a Revolution this fall.

I haven't been hyped for a console in many many years, especially when there is so little info as there is on the revolution, but damn, I think I can say right now I'm getting one of those~~~~

And this may mark the day I finally get my own console. A red letter day by all means.

Heh Nintendo really do have their heads screwed on don't they. I work for Sony and I am more excited about the Rev than the PS3 (don't spread that around tho)

I think its a nice feature, but one that people are putting too much hype on.

Emulators don't (generally) run on console very well tho do they. I am the exception amongst the gamers I know nowerdays in that I play predominantly on PC. Most folks don't, so no they haven't heard of emulators and yes it is very cool for them.

i dunno...emmulators means you gotta sit around the computer and play.

having the old SNES out means everyone can sit around the TV and enjoy the fun with the controllers the way it was meant to be played. i don't think my girlfriend would be interested in playing her SNES games on my PC. watching her play and appreciate a game the way I appreciate games means a lot. emmulators wouldn't allow for that.

anyway...old school games...why am more excited about finding an old Sega Genesis than most of the stuff coming out now? Only thing I ever played on genesis was Sonic and NHL Hockey.

Emulators on PC are only any good with a joypad.

OMG, all I want is a 60fps GoldenEye.

Not an actual golden eye, though. That'd just be silly.

the revolution is the only console I'm excited about, I doubt I will get a ps3 or xbox2. The revolution is the only console actually offering something new and fun instead of the same shit with bump maps.

We just got an xbox2 in the office that came with gotham racing. Who hasn't played the exact same racing game for literally 8 or so years? I give mad props to nintendo for actually being a gaming company, instead of adding a 6th razor like microsoft and sony.

well i give credit for microsoft for xbox live arcade and stuff. i like retro games for simplicity and pick up and play and i applaud efforts to make the online service more accessible.

that said, i'm not that into all the arcade games other that geo wars and hexic. i guess the marble game is cool, but wtf...why not open the architecture up to the mod scene? i'd really like to see simple arcade type games that homeusers can build designed for a console and not for a pc?

i love pc mods and simple pc homemade games, but i'd like to see some simple action games with lame graphics but killer gameplay to play with my controller. and i'm willing to pay so give them to me on xbox live arcade and charge me a few bucks for it to recoup the dev cost.

come on msft...open the floodgates. have a team of 2 people be the gatekeepers to evaluate titles for further approval with the execs. how easy is that? let us develop shit on a PC, or sell a dev kit for retail xboxes. no game will ever get distributed on xbox live without going through you? so you won't get stiffed out of your precious precious money.

anyway...i am enjoying ghost recon, even though it is more like current gen 1.5 than next gen (which would be current gen 2.0 in my stupid analogy)

I'm sure I read an article about MS wanting amateur developers to get in touch about putting out their games on Live, but I can't remember where.
