im suprised you guys are arguing over symantics and not the actual big bang... you guys are literally arguing over the definitions of the words instead of what this could mean.

if you are a man who respects science, i take it you are like "f'in a, kick ass"

if you are a man who respects the scripture, im sorry.ohhhhhhhhhhhhh...no im just kidding...no really

now what this picture is, is PROOF, it is WHAT HAPPENED, what a hundreth of a second after the universe was created, that doesnt mean the big bang is true, it just means its probably true. i expect a movie to come out about it shortly.

....tell me Holeman, as a man who respects science, what do you think this new image means that we didnt "know" before?

It is just evidence, its just new information that we didnt have before, maybe we'll learn more about the universe from it.

Theres too much science cant explain, so we do assumptions. All laws of physics are based upon these assumptions, so everything you "prove" with science contains some assumptions. Thats why you cant really have anything 100%, all we can do is say that "It is most likely like this".

I'm not good at explaining, but atleast, thats basically how my physics teacher started the year =)

Except those mentioned in this thread, what important stuff is it that science cant explain you think?

And most likely it is close to 99,9% on most basic stuff which is as good as it gets.

If you study physics enough, there is this stage that begins with "Everything you have learned about physics so far, I want you to forget it."

Since I'm no physicist I cant answer that knowing that I am correct, and, since you ended up agreeing with me in the end I didnt think I needed to answer it.

Didnt you see that "bafffling" video RD posted ?

    http://www.mapcore.net/forums/viewtopic ... t=baffling

"This baffled scientists" why? because they cant explain it, knowing all that we know, and we cant explain something like that...

What do you mean we cant explain it?

Listen, if you observe an electron "this way" it colapses to a particle and if you observe it "like that" it colapses into a wave because the observation contains enough energy to affect the electron.

You know what, that the earth was round and not flat was friggin "bafffling" scientists... a long time ago!

The double slit experiment is at least two hundered years old.

The experiments described in the video was first performed in the seventies, so trust me, scientists are NOT baffled by this anymore. Geeez.

lol skjalg, that video is from a documentary called "what the bleep do we know", which is made by some new age lunatics that want to use quantum mechanics to explain consciousness, how we are all part of god etc...using string theory, it can be explained... however that is just hypothesis and yet impossible to observe

Oh man, that crap. It was actually from a local cult from right here in the good ol' US of A! It's tripe and has been repeatedly trounced.

    Okay, maybe I shouldnt have posted that RD video, but before any more of you jump on the "Skjalg-is-stupid" vagon here, I'd just like to point out something;

I suck at explaining myself so I guess I blew it at my first post, the thing i was really after is that there is a new wave of people(scientists) going back to believing in something greater, religion(?), simply because we're starting to face the fact that there really is so much we cant explain.(Dont make me detail that out, because i cant, I dont know enough about the subject) "We" have begun to understand that there are things out there, on other planes of existences, supernatural stuff, gods, ascended beeings, whatever, that we cant just blindly trust in physics and math to explain everything anymore.

Im not saying this is the way to go, I'm just saying that resent trends are going away from the whole 80's-90's "yay, theres nothing the humans cant do, hell we even walked on the moon harr harr"-thing.

But even though i started my latest post there with "Since I'm no physicist I cant answer that knowing that I am correct", I still tried to, using an example I knew people had seen here, and i failed miserably

What this has to do with the big bang... I really dont know.

Oh great, make me feel bad about me being an ass why dont you Skjalg!

Ok... sorry, didn't mean to imply youre stupid, I was just frustrated, my bad.

I don't think there is a trend amongst scientists "going back"!

And we have certainly NOT begun to understand that there are "things out there", what would give you such an idea?

Im not sure i believe it either, because I certainly aint going back to that, but it was a part of that Physics-teacher speach thingie.. (oh and, he was able to pull up some examples of things we dont understand to make his point better, my memory just sucks ass).

Dont feel bad Mawibse, I'd probably respond just the way you did

All people and the whole crowd belive that the big bang started it all..

    But what If It didn't?

What If what you say Is wrong and What the religion says is right?

Why trust in science and reasearch when religion explains in the bible/koraan

aswell what life actually takes the first step. The fact is that it's hard to understand the holy text in the book of all books but many interesting things can really help Us to get infront of the perspective and learn what life is.

Life explains to be a test and the 10 commandments are given to follow.

One more thing is that different people understand different the bible

and can get it wrong. For example Jihad what arabes can do is breaking against the laws if so told in the 10 commandments, don't kill, don't steal and et.c don't lie when they do jihad and kills other people being martrues and terrorists.

It's the human being that can be dangerous when he don't understands the bible wrong and the religion it's not the religion that says go and do it or you must do it because if not you gonna get it.

You knoww why do you belive more in sciense when you can belive in the religion too? The fact is how you understand what is being spoken and what is being said.

    allright?

You're fine to believe what you want, however distrusting science and research for the sake of distrusting it is just patently false to both science and religion. Furthermore, science and research had repeated experiments and controls and are constantly changing and figuring out new information to patch old gaps in research. Religion is the same "we don't know what happened so here's a story" claptrap, it never changes in that regard.

That's not a fact, and no religion doesn't explain scientifically where life came from. It's an interesting tool for indepth philosophical musings on morality and such, but beyond that it has no merit in science.

First of all you want facts because without them you find it impossible to belive in something you belive in. We have good education and we have strong teachers that know religion and both research and science.

Without the religion there wouldn't be any sciense since then scinse had nothing to compare with and strike with. I feel me free to talk about all I feel to and let's accept eachothers views however if you think I'm wrong and besides that if I thinks you are. There is no proof that big bang happened for unknown time ago, where do you know it from?

From nowhere you belive what you hear and what you read.

But you still belive it, don't you?

So, I think it's you that need to calm down and spend many hours in the library before you go out in a serius debatte with someone else or me.

If you think religion is made upon stories and myths you must be sick in the head. Nothing just happends like that, like that.

Uh...Nexus, I know plenty about world religions and mythology. Probably larger amounts than you do. They're myths and made up stories from a bygone day when people thought the sun sank into the ocean or that gods roamed the earth and could be sacrificed to. It's not real and has no bearing on scientific reasoning.

There is a shitload scientists don't know or have reliable theories about, AND THATS HOW ITS SUPPOSED TO BE!

It has always been this way and will always be.

And when you get insecure and want answers where there are non you will make things up, or have someone make things up for you, that will make you feel better.

That has also always been and will always be.

And future generations will laugh at what the past generations thought was true.

This also will be an eternal truth... until we inevitably become extinct.

If the above scares you, then imagine that there is a greater purpose for this, and feel better.

And Nexus, stop smoking that shit!
