    Hi there,

    I'm making a map from Half-life.

I would like to rework that texture (Rock) to get something like that :

    [Blocked Image: http://pix.nofrag.com/2c/7c/8f3a7b7ff244cc579c4df592f3a0t.jpg]

Well, I don't know how making custom texture... Here my test :

    (Kryptonite texture)

    (Metal texture)

(I agree thats its look crappy...)

    Thanks men !

I don't think anyone knows what you want.

    I don't.

Are you somehow making that map or contributing to the making of it,

or do you want help to copy that rock texture and make it look like

    kryptonite?

Or do you just want some feedback on the texes?

    Here is my guess:

Kryptonite: It needs some more colors, even though it should be green

it would have other colors in it, right now it looks like you have adjusted

the colors on the whole image to look green.

    Not realistic imo.

Depends on what you are using it for.

Metal: same goes for this texture the whole texture is monochromatic,

look at (or use) an image of real metal and you will see that there are

other colors in there that makes it look "alive".

The bevel (shadow) with is to large on the edges aswell,

    should be much thinner.

Then again it depends a bit on what you are using it for, what style you are looking to make.

    Hope this helps...

    Oh well !

I'm remaking a level from Opposing Force... In order to get something linear compared to the Black Mesa mod, I would like to get the same texture used in the map made by Rabidmonkey.

The Kryptonite and Metal textures are my first test on photoshop... I don't know how creat a realistic texture !

    Could someone help me ?

There's something. You have a looong road to walk. Like every one of us. You wont just learn it in a day, It takes years. Nowadays you pretty much have to know how to model to create a texture with all it's fancy things.

dc-mike thats awesome, my only complaints is top center it's a little dark patch, it's kinda noticable when tiling. and also that grass, dirt, canyonrock, etc etc. is usually better around 1024x1024 to avoid obviously tiling patterns in such large circumstances like the cliffs hes shown.

also your texture is oddly 480x480?

Am I the only one who can see the obvious repetitions here?
