Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter came out today.

So let's hear it for those of you who are playing it. What do you think? I hope to be playing this weekend if I have time.

I want it so bad I ordered the second Ghost Recon for my Xbox to tide me over I've still not grabbed a 360, and won't be until after I graduate in a couple of months, so it will have to do me for now. Reviews so far have looked extremely positive.

When we had a game of like 8 friends going through the online campaign levels, it was awesome. Hell, even with only 3 or 4 players it was great.

Today I kind of discovered the dark side: random people on the internet are generally fucking idiots. I wanted to play more campaign mode since it's just so damned fun. First off, joining a game sucks. Most rounds are going to last 10-20 minutes, and when you join a server you're stuck in the lobby instead of observing in the 3D world. So you've either got to find a game that is waiting to start (which is hampered by the lagged server browser) or find a game that is 10+ minutes in, and then sit around. Kind of boring. Then if you manage to get into a game you have to hope the server admin isn't a prick.

One server I was on restarted every single time the guy died, because he didn't want to sit around and let other people finish. I'm fine with that if we get smoked as a crew 2 minutes in. But we were almost finished with one of the very long levels, 20 minutes in. I was alive along with the two guys that formed my little posse, when the server admin stupidly ran into an open square and died. Rather than let us kill the 4 or 5 remaining guys, finish the level, and get us all rank points, he restart the game.

A few matches later, I found a good server with a bunch of guys from NYC (one of them rapped). We were trying a level for the 3rd time, and got pretty far. I told the guy I was next to that I was going to clear an area with some rifle grenades because there were three guys in there that got us last round. So right as I've lined up the shot arc, he runs in the doorway and takes the grenade in the square of the back. Turns out he's hosting the game and kicks me and gives me negative feedback. Fucker.

But on the whole, I love it. The levels are great to look at. The guns have enough customization to them. The co-op with your friends is just crazy good. Seeing your friend dive for cover behind some rocks and then hustling on top of a nearby building to take out his attackers and lay some cover fire for him to get out of there is just awesome.

I only played it for about 2-3 hours yesterday, singleplayer campaign (Me and Mac are going to give the Co-op stuff a try in the weekend I feel ). Maybe its just me that was kinda tired and not up to the task yesterday, but I found it very confusing with loads of enemies shooting at me all over the place, even with those red markers it got kinda frustrating a times with people hitting me even though I was totally concealed in cover. Also the squad mechanics feel somewhat lashed on, it doesnt really feel like a squad game, or the squad mechanics feel strange. You usually send some guys behind some cover and then have them shoot at a target, but even when I had given them orders to shoot at something they would suddenly run away from the cover, out in the open and get shot. Really weird and extremely annoying since in then had to run out and revive them, and thus die myself.

Also I had a situation when I had just restarted the level (the one after shooting with the chopper the first time) and I ran over to a corner to peak around and take out some guys further down the street. Then i moved to a van parked next to the corner to be in cover, and suddenly to my right, right next to me, I actually see 2 guys spawn out from nowhere and kill me. Great fun!

When it actually works right its an awesome game though.

Also the visuals are awesome from a distance, but pretty nasty when you get up close. Those shots of you in the chopper looking over the city are breathtaking though, truely the 360 at its best so far.

Oh and whats up with that music in the chopper?

Love it. Had a great round of team DM/coop with 3 other guys from work for a few hours tonight, and there's at least 2 more picking it up this weekend. Single player's fun, too, though I'm a bit awkward at it yet. Looking forward to hammering through more of it over the weekend. Not quite sure yet if it's my favorite on the 360 so far, but it's right up there.

We didn't do so hot on the campaign stuff the first time around, a guy with a rocket launcher fired it into a railing and took out himself and another guy out within the first 30 seconds... then we went back to the team dm stuff, where my teammate and I discovered the drone first... wiped the floor for a couple rounds on a couple maps before we told the other guys Good times, though.

Good thing this is third person! Though isn't there a first person option?

I tried to join you KFS last night, but I was too impatient to wait for your rounds to end. Damn the servers where no one uses the voicechat though, well atleast on servers where people seem competant. And yes there is a First person option, but there is no gun model like the original GR

The only thing I found a little disappointing was the lack of cover functionality in MP like there is in SP. Not a game-breaker for me, but I think I would have had even more fun playing like that. Maybe Gears of War MP will have it, at least.

Mojo: Yeah, we had frag limit of 50 and 30 minute timers, heh. Though it started going really fast when we put the drone on them Bring even numbers to level out the teams!
