EVER WANTED TO HELP BRING THE DEAD BACK TO LIFE?

Well now you can! With the launch of Half-Life: Resurrection you will be able to participate in resurrecting cancelled half-life mods.

Half-Life Resurrection is a team project that aims to finish cancelled Half-Life 1 mods. This is done with the permission of the original mod creators.

In many ways this will be harder than starting a completely new mod. Team members will have to understand that if they work on a partially completed map they must finish it with as few changes as possible. Our task is to finish the mod and keep it as original as possible.

The project is looking for dedicated and talented members of various skills and experience. We would like the team to consist of many nationalities to reflect the international community of Half-Life. The only language requirement is to be able to read and write a basic level of English.

The Project has already managed to sign-up to two mods, with another couple in discussion.

We hope you find Half-Life Resurrection interesting and will consider joining the team. If you have any questions please either visit the website.

The website is live and includes exact team positions' available, details of the projects, a brief introduction in four languages (with more on the way!) and a forum.

On the Sands of War team we messed around with that idea once, making a modding dream team which rescued dead mods. I got the idea after seeing the promising mod after another go down despite the enormous potential some of them had.

In the end we realized that we hardly had enough manpower to keep up the work on SoW though:/

I wish you all good luck with the idea though as I obviously like it:)

Sounds like a waste of time, to be honest, I see no point in "ressurecting" Half-Life mods

    Who plays it anymore anyway?

HL2 is just plain "better" in every aspect.

    That is my opinion.

Opinion noted and dismissed, shitloads of people still play HL1 stuff which is why CS 1.6 is still popular, not everyone has the latest technology..

    Oh and HL > HL2

Good to see you here Phillip, great site btw

Because it has a better storyline, better characters, better locations etc, obviously HL2 has much better graphics but that's irrelevant. In terms of editing HL2 has less drawbacks but is a lot more complex to edit than the original game, even Doom 3's easier to edit and that sure as Hell aint old.

The response to Half-Life Resurrection has been quite poor. Lots of people have said "Hey, great idea" but few have voluntered to work. I have had a few applications from a variey of skill specialists but the main problem I have is that the project desperately needs a Technical Team Leader because without one it is immpossisble to allocate and organise the work for the specialists.

The role of the TTL can be a consultative one, suitable for somebody with plenty of experience and knowledge but maybe short on time. If you are that person or know somebody suitable please email, IM or PM me.

These mods have waited quite a few years and another few months won't make much difference. I'm going to perserve and perhaps become the biggest pain-in-the-butt the HL1 mapping community has seen. I'm hoping to have a brand new trailer made and that may generate some extra pubilicity.

you know, video games are made for some dedal of fun/entertainment

with that in mind, so long as the game entertains, it's good.

    hl entertained me. still does!
