No doubt you have seen this, but here it is:

    http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/24/load- ... weet-time/

6 minutes is quite a long bit of time when trying to load a simple game

Yup, pretty insane. The average load time on the PSP isnt that bad though. The game I've got where its most frequent is probably Prince of Persia, and its perhaps max 1m 30s from bootup until youre in the game. Takes no time when you put it on sleep tho, which I do pretty much all the time anyway :G

Yeah, a few PSP games take their time to get up and running, though most are perfectly acceptable. This on the other hand, is completely ridiculous. Good thing I have absolutely no interest in the game

Another great reason for buying a DS instead of PSP.

Though, this is just one game. I have no idea what the loading times are usually on PSP

the biggest problem is it spent 4 of those minutes loading single shots of NOTHING. Didn't anyone go... you know maybe people bought this for a wrestling game and not a shot of a girl walking that took 33 seconds to load?

whoever is responsible for this should be locked away and only allowed to make shareware for the compUSA shelves.

BF2's load times are what stopped me and my flatmate playing to be honest - they were horrible. I did hear they improved them in patches so maybe now the situation is better, but it was pretty horrendous to begin with The whole optimising shaders fiasco each time you wanted to change video settings made it a pain to get "just right" for your system when you first got the game too - it took about half an hour to do what in most games takes a couple of minutes.

Oh yea, and once the loading is over you get that verifying client data shit which is plus 2 minutes, then you click the button for join game and you lag the shit out, and by the time everything clears up its been a minute since you clicked the button... and you're lucky if the game doesn't lag for two minutes after you join

    fuck that

I stopped playing just before the Wake Island patch came out, but before that it took absolutely ages to get into the game, and computer power didn't seem to have much difference.

It actually loaded the map and whatever really quickly, it was the "verifying data" which then took multiple minutes. It was also generally stressful just using that God forsaken server browser, which ultimately led to me just not wanting to bother.

I dont get this, generally it takes like 30-40sec to load a map in BF2 for me. Thats from clicking the join button till I'm ingame playing, and my computer isnt really that good anymore :G

I'll agree that its changed with the latest patches, it used to be a bit faster.
