haloha, shalom, hi there and guten tag!

I just recently started mapping on a map called 'griezelbos'. It will be a small cs map, playable by 4 vs 4 max. I'm not sure yet what kind of gamemode I'll use, but I'm willing to take any recommandations in account.

I got inspired by the Dutch movie: 'De Griezelbus'. An awesome movie. I must also commit that rockdude's totally cool architecture inpired me.

I used a sky from the talented mr. hipshot.

Looks great. Only thing that looks weird is the trees (in the 3d skybox I presume). The fog makes them look way too light?

    LOL

you thought de griezelbus was great?

Anyways about the map, AWESOME. Just fix the fog and lighting.

    Not great, just ehr... fun!

    hmmz

Anyhow, JAL and RD; I'll work on the fog and lightning. Does anybody know some neat tutorials 'bout making some appropiate fog? I just really don't seem to hit the spot, fogwise..

Oh, and RD, you ment those green no-so-logic lights on the paths? Do I need to fix those?

if you want to add good looking fog, you must have the same fog values in both skyboxes, also the skybox texture should be very bland overall. Also you can use func_dustclouds.

in verdict: the skybox texture must be foggy too if you want to make it look "right"

Don't really like the yellow light, but other than that it's great

    Thanks for the comments.

skdr, thanks a bunch, I'm going to try the interlopers tut.

Isn't an env_dustcloud much more expensive then an env_fog_controller?

Yes, its actually pretty expensive with performance so I guess you could just use fog_controller. Dustclouds looks cool tho

Interesting architecture there. Looks cool. If you get the fog a bit nicer I bet that will lift the looks up a lot.

Yeah, they definitly do! I like to use them for surface fog, wich I have fiddled around with in my map. It really gives it a spooky graveyard feeling.

Thanks for the other comments guys.

Lights without light source? Where does these blue and green lights come from? If you need a nice light source, use fireflys. This would be cool.

blue light comes from small waterpools, the the green light has no source, but I sort of fixed that yesterday. I placed them in my map to see how green light would look like, if it would fit my map.

For the greenlights tomatoz, you could model some luminescent sporeplants, a bit like this

    [Blocked Image: http://kokosovar.free.fr/sporeplant.jpg]

And put plenty of these in your little pathways

I'm working on it, but it takes time, too much time.

I've made 130 custom textures for it at the moment :/
