im surprised it looks so good.

not that i doubt your skills or anything which are obviously good, but you said the original hl2 buggy had 4k polies and this one has roughly half. tbh this one looks much smoother in places. the original looked downright boxy in some places.

The polycount will be about 5000 once I get it into HL2. Right now 3dsmax is only counting faces, not triangles.

So why wont you convert it to editable patch first and then look the number of faces from summary info?

    Nice model btw.

you dont have to convert it to patches to see the true polycount.

Oh, does it show the real ammount of polys at summary info or is there some place else to check that out?

EDIT: Tested it, someone lied to me when he said it should converted to editable patch

Go into the customise menu and bind a key to the show triangles command -- it saves you having to convert it to a mesh every so often.

yeh and hit '7' in 3dsmax, you'll have the polycount in direct-live

This is going little offtopic. Anyway, in max5 i had to convert it to editable patch to see the number of triangles.
