Nazis versus Stormtroopers.

    So, who would win? The Empire's Stormtroopers from the Star Wars series or history's most notorious forces from the Reich?

    My take is this: If the Empire invaded Earth in the 1940s and took on Nazi Germany on its home turf it'd get stomped - but just barely.

    Reasons:

    Weaponry: Stormtroopers are armed with blaster rifles and pistols. While their technology is superior they are severely wanting in accuracy and training. They couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Nazi soldiers had rifles, submachineguns and the all-powerful mg42 (regarded as perhaps one of the finest machineguns ever made) and got at least some form of training. The Nazi snipers alone would wreak havoc on the untrained Stormtrooper hordes.

    Armor: Stormtroopers have what is apparently white plastic plate armor that can't even stop laser blasts effectively, let alone physical ammunition. They lose even more points in mobility, vision and damage resistance than the Nazis who are clothed in only wool cloth uniforms and metal helmets.

    Vehicles: This is where it gets tricky. While the Empire would easily destroy all Luftwaffen air support with its fast aircraft and tracking technology their turf vehicles are screwed. The AT-ATs have huge broad sides just begging for an artillery shell or well placed round from a Tiger tank. The smaller AT-STs would have an easier time but are still top heavy and dependent on a supporting force to keep them alive on the field. What about a death star though? Well if you're all for a pyrrhic victory then go ahead and blow up the Earth, no one wins and in my opinion, that's a draw.

    Clones to krauts, the German forces come out on top. Your opinions?

    but Empire's air power would kick the crap out the Nazi's and win much of the war. Once the Luftwaffe is destroyed, the aireal bombbardment from the star destroyers and all the Tie bombers would destroy the Panzer divisions, all the factories and all of Hitler's war machine in a matter of weeks, and that's if they took their time.

    End of discussion.

    I mean the nazis gotta have a really good airsupport to know out the death star...

    cause the did rebuild it a third time after the 6th movie.

    The Empire would win hands down. They empires air power would dominate. The german airforce couldnt stand a chance against tie fighters manuverability. AT-ST's you would need a huge rail road gun to take one of those down. Think about it, the rebels laser artillery couldnt take one down in the empire strikes back, whats a german tank going to do? or an 88.

    But i have a feeling if the Empire came to earth back in the 40's, i think there first ally would be Nazi Germany. Think about it.

    well, really the only thing that puts empire over the edge is heavy mechanized toys, and if we look at the rebel resistence, they werent the best prepaired, i mean, sure they had to leave Hoth because of the AT-AT's but they could take them down, and i dont doubt that the germans could think of something, because lets put this in context again, this is the reich vs the empire, there is not russians, british, americans seperating the nazi's force, and it has been argued that if it were not for that seperation, the nazi's could have very well taken over the world

    anyway, nazis = strategy, empire = mass

    We left out a few major components of the analysis...

    Information and Communications

    If you think about it, this one aspect would put the Empire over the Nazis a million times over. Sure, Nazis had radios, and maybe even crude radar systems, but the Empire has all those sensors and communications systems and holograms of mini Darth Vader etc... that should make it no contest because Empire will always be ahead of the Germans.

    Logistics and Supplies

    Do you think the Russian winter would have stopped the empire's advance on the eastern front? Shya riigght. Further, it's really easy to resupply troops (and evacuate) with flying ships that don't need runways. Nazi's had no helicopters, and bad terrain would severly impeed progress when trying to take land.

    Return to the Fire Power Debate

    Empire has bombardment from Star Destroyers. Ok...Hanz Fleldler is in a Panzer tank on Earth while Darth Vader is on the bridge of his flagship. They decide to get in a fight. Who wins?

    Is this really a serious discussion anymore? How about let's debate who would win in a war? The Nazis or the army of Undead from Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors II? (er was it III or IV?...er whatever?)

    Empire wins easily. They've got tactics, weapons, and sheer manpower on their side.

    Tactics: The Empire is more of a "bomb first, deploy later" sort of force. Look at the Clone Wars. It's all about flying over battlefields with the heavy tech, and then landing the troops to clean up. The German's just don't have the anti-aircraft ability to counter this (unless they have AA guns that can reach space)

    Weapons: Hmmmmm, a blaster vs a grease gun. That's a toss up. Both are horribly inaccurate (ever seen a Stormtrooper actually hit something?), but the edge still goes to the Empire for the numerous support vehicles they've got on their side. Plus, the Empire's weapons aren't dependant on depleting stocks of oil and bullets, so if worse comes to worse, the empire can last longer in a porlonged fight.

    Manpower: This is where the Empire really wins. THEY'VE GOT A FRICKEN CLONE ARMY. No need to factor in loss of manpower when making battle decisions.You can just crank out more perfect fighters as you need them. The Empire can go Zapp Brannigan on the Nazi's asses and send wave after wave of men at them until the Empire finally wins.

    Empire. Hands Down.

    in that sense the french still lost. Yeah they were on the winning sides, but surrender monkey's with sticks really never win do they?

    Depends which timeframe. Early Empire had better shots. Look at the Clone Wars cartoons. Those guys were surgically taking out shit left and right. Empire/Jedi time period needs to work on the target practice a bit more. Maybe repetitive cloning leads to degrading quality, like a photocopier.
