I'm so loud that bet that many of you already know my view on religions. But once it's not about me dammit, I'm here to hear defferent views.

So how do you view religions in general, and how do you feel about the religious fanatics, how about beliefs, ideologies and philosohpies that some consider religions.

Voice your opinion, it increases the knowledge juice in my brain.

I view religion as brain-washing of the human mind and most of the time I just ignore it completely. Sometimes it's not possible when people shove it IN YOUR FACE, annoys me to fuck it does.

Here's a question about religion: if there's no one around to believe in its God(s), do they actually exist?

I ask this question because people have been slaughtering each other for millenia based on many things, one of them being religion. The possibility of human extinction is not completely out of the question here, in this day and age.

Personally, I'm a Roman Catholic by birth, but by life I've found that I deviate from many of the Church's philosophies. I really don't know what to believe anymore, the world is much too hectic and full of falsities to make an informed decision.

Radicals in any religion or viewpoint are extremely dangerous people. These people are completely blind to the viewpoints of others, and at any rate refuse to think they could be possibly wrong by any measure. Whether it be radical left (communist), radical right (fascism), radical Muslim (Islamist Extremists), Christian extremist, or anything else under the sun.

pah, we know where rain comes from and why crops fail. We don't need gods to blame it on. They do make a handy excuse for mass slaughter though, so I imagine folk will cling to it a while longer.

I read an article about Wiccas before I started this thread and even tho I basically know nothing about them (propably the reason I read the article) I feel sympathy for them when they got to the part where they have been openly hated and their lifes have been threatened just because they don't belong to any of the larger religions.

Usually when something is creating this much trouble, violence and opression, it is outlawed, but how come religion isn't, I firmly stand by what I said that religion is the biggest human rights violatio in the history of man, it's a straight out categorizing and in it's name has some serious crimes done. It's like a world wide caste system, people are divided in to some groups and treated accordingly to your own whim just because somehow they apparently aren't like you.

Every time I hear anything about religion I'm almost going to vomit, and I just cant understand how people can support some monstrocity like it.

You can't single people out by their "race" it was outlawed long ago, so why can you single them out by religion? That is absurd, no intelligent person would accept religion in to modern society, and especially not in it's current state where it has strong influence on major decisions like politics.

They outlawed racism and there are not hundreds of millions of people in prisons. So what is your point?

Anyone who wants religion outlawed is, ironically, being very much an idealist. Realistically, something like this would never happen. Either the good majority of the religions would roll into one or the situation would remain as it is with multiple religions. Since the beginning of the human species, people have been worshiping higher beings.

A more realistic solution would be to have the people of every religion stop trying to force their beliefs on others, which would lead to a much more tolerant society.

And it's not necessarily a bad thing, racists should be locked up, and those who can't live without shoving religion to everywhere from politics to opinions about other people and how "worthy" they are should definedly be locked up too. You can believe anything for what I care, it's you private thing, but the minute you start to treat people badly because they are the wrong religion or start to shove it to peoples faces and being a complete dick about it, I say you are not a properly functioning part of the modern society.

Leave it up to someone to always ruin a perfectly legitimate thread, whether it be discussion about grammar or something completely unnecessary like above.

Is it that hard to not respond, or is there something that compells you to be a jackass?

And you were compelled to participate to the thread even if it clearly stated that participation should be concidered as a bad move? You have no one else to blame than yourself.

Kosmo, he was responding to someone elses post, which was awesomely deleted because it belonged in EOT.

Anyways, back on topic. Religion isnt racism. It is now in fact you who wants to imprison others for their beliefs. You dont exactly prove that atheism is great

I'm aware of that my prejustice against religions is as bad as religions prejustice against other religions, but it's a necessary evil I am willing to handle in my quest for more tolerant world. People who hate racists for what they believe are also racists, but I don't judge them by that because they also are in a quest for more tolerant world.

Religion is not racism, but it's yet another way to categorise human beings in to sub groups, just like if you are gay or what color your skin is.

I consider Atheism idiotic, why the hell there even has to be a some sort of option if you don't believe in any religion, to me there just are no religions, end of story, I consider them only as philosophies nothing more.
