In what has been a great week for incredible Steam news, I found out today that Warren Spector, the lead man behind Deus Ex, is working together with Valve to create a new game for the Steam platform.

"We are currently working with Valve on a new game using the Source Engine to be delivered via Steam, and are looking for top talent from within the industry to help us out."

His company, Junction Point Studios, is advertising for jobs.

Warren Spector? Digital distribution? The combination is enough to make most gamers weak at the knees. With their "focus on player-driven, improvisational gameplay in the context of strong, traditional narratives" and their goal "to tell stories with players, not to them," Junction Point Studios look to be a force to be reckoned with.

We already established this in the Red Orchestra thread, but yeah, it's exciting. I just hope that it's going to be a Thief kind of gameand not a Deus Ex kind of game.

Oh so he took a break from two years of heavy and loud criticism of all developers other than himself to make a game?

    Interesting.

    Yeah, yeah, simmer down.

He's said a few questionable things if sources are quoting him verbatim, but that doesn't take away from him having a big part in the creation of (arguably) one of PC gaming's masterpieces.

I enjoy his work, and there's a sense of trust that hasn't been marred by the good-but-lacklustre Deus Ex 2. So I'm looking forward to what he can come up with.

I just hate when talented designers realize they are.

Cuz they love to remind you.

Is he actually working with valve, or did he just send an email asking them if he could release it over steam once its done?

He bought the Source so it guarantees some passionate buttsex with Gabe, but other than that I don't think that Valve and Junction Point have any kind of relations. I guess the man love is enough to prove Gabe to let Warren release what he is tinkering.
