blizzard knows that mmos are where the money's at. they have FOUR MILLION SUBSCRIBERS FFS. granted, the chinese aren't paying $15 a month but they're raking in the cash like you wouldn't believe. run a few figures and you might be surprised.

which is also why they'd know not to produce another mmo yet because it would split their userbase.

they wont make another mmo for 5 or 6 years

It's basic economy and common sense, why would Blizz make a competitor for something that has a major playerbase, and especially when majority of it are fans of Blizzards other franchises. They can run the WoW mill for good 5 years or so and gather money before they need to look for anything new.

I'm fairly sure that Diablo is a basic hack n' slash game following in the footsteps of the earlier ones, but I must say, they made two major changes to two of their beloved franchises, Warcraft went MMOG and Starcraft went 3rd person action adventure, so I'm fairly sure that they aren't going to leave Diablo unchanged.

Well, Blizza has the best cinematic team in the game industry, so it would be totally cool. Not to mention, it would take less time than playing through the game.

im not too into wow, mainly because i cant afford it (the time that is) but a diablo mmo is just a wetdream for me, also a diablo movie would be sweet, i loved the cinematics in d2 more than any of the others

same here.. the WoW movies didnt have any cool epic events in them, but the D2 ones always had a story behind it, which made it sooo cool...

Almost like the Wc3 movies, but only some of the movies there were good^^

edit; How the hell can i forget the sc and bw cinematics.. They are best evr~~

I think WoW cinematics were rather cool, and atleast the dwarf part was pretty epic, where he was on the mountain and you could see Ironforge.

But nothing, absolutely nothing todate has "touched" me as much as the return of Arthas video in WC3, absolute cinematic orgasm.

Blizzard isn't going to compete with itself. It will be a normal Diablo... If it ever comes out.

I say the poster is fake beacuse it uses the old logo.

I don't comment if the poster is fake or not, but the Diablo a dn Diablo 2 logos were the same with the addition of the flaming II in the background with Diablo 2. It's a long continuing tradition with Blizzard that they use the very same logos for games from the beginning, just adding something to them, but the basic same logo remains.

They haven't had any movement at Blizzard North for so long time that they are definedly up to something, and they have been hiring staff left and right, and some other reasons I explained earlier like the IPs. I think it is very much possible that they are infact doing a new Diablo.

But what I'm really asking myself is, what is going to be the next project for Blizzard Console after they ship the long waited Starcraft Ghost.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot that, they merged the two PC developer teams. I have a stupid head.

But anyhow, Blizz still has the second PC team, not all of them are working on WoW.

This goes to the category "rumor mill" but I just couldn't left this unposted.

I was browsing through Blizz employment site to see if there is anything new - and maybe I could fit there some where - and I stumbled across some mighty peculiar things.

As for some job applications straight out say "we are looking for environmental artist for award winning World of Warcraft" and others say "Blizzard, the creator of Diablo and Diablo II is looking for.."

I don't quite know if that is them just assuming people don't know what games they have made or a hint of what kind of art will you be making and what kind of game.

I'll let you connect the dots.

Blizzard wouldn't really be competing with themselves, they'd be widening their range - if they have 2 online RPG's in their portfolio, why should they care which of the two a person is playing? Two games are going to appeal to more people than one game, so there is sense behind it being an MMO. Many WoW fans that aren't necessarly Diablo fans would be intrigued by the fact it's an MMO made by Blizzard and check it out, potentially while keeping their WoW accounts active at the same time. Diablo fans are obviously going to be intrigued, if not downright gagging for it

That said, there isn't necessarily a need for another MMO right at the minute, so while it may appeal to non-WoW players and some WoW players, would it sell as much as an MMO as it would as a new single player game in the current market? I couldn't say at the moment to be honest. I'd prefer it to be a single player personally, but I never played Diablo 2 and only played Diablo on the playstation (yeah, I didn't have a PC back then), so my opinion isn't worth much

Well, like I said, they have dramatically changed the gameplay mechanics in their previous games, AND adding that Blizzard is an online gaming pioneer, more so than Valve, I wouldn't shut out the possibility of Guild Wars style action with semi MMOG type gameplay but alot of singleplayer elements.

I think you both are on the right track as far as MMORPG but I can assure you that there will be no diablo title out for awhile..

lol... I am sure any one of the gaming vets on this very forum could find out some answer that will please your devices, they have more contacts in the industry then I do..... But I am pretty confident on this one.. I would start looking for a diablo title maybe 3-5 years from now... May seem like a long time but it did take them almost 10 years to make warcraft 3. From the sources that I have the game is in very early stages and nothing is very final but the word MMO has been thrown around. I would also not be suprised if we did see another RTS title come out of blizzard one that has been long overdue and is about 2 years out.
