Hey, thought I'd post some WIP screens of an area I'm doing for a small mod called Insurrection. Yeah, it does use a large amount of Half-Life 2 content but Farles was nice enough to model some new trees. There are a few things that could do with improving - but for now :

    Any comments welcome.

Oooh good to see you here man, and I'm digging this map. I'd prefer it if it wasn't City 17 personally, but as it's for a mod I guess you don't get that option. Reminds me of the atmosphere in the Innsmouth levels of Call of Cthulhu, and that's a compliment

What you doing with Drift by the way? AG2 seems somewhat abandoned, so you considering releasing for HL2DM or perhaps HL2DM Pro?

Aw man, a City17 map that actually looks fresh! Really good fog usage and I like the lighting a lot. The fog reminds me of a war-scene. Nearby artillery, anyone?

Eyyy man I've always been a sucker for City-17 styled maps and I can't seem to shift the love to anything else right now. . AG2, yeah shame that kind of just suddenly died from out of nowhere. Drift is pretty dead in the water too at the mo. I completely ran out of ideas and the motivation to finish it... so it ended up looking quite rubbish when I knew I could do a lot better - but lacked the will to continue. I'll come back to it one day

    edit

Captain P : the Myst/fog is actually from the rain, but the drops are the same color as the fog so it's difficult to see. If you look hard enough you can just about make out that it's raining. It's really pissing it down in game but it hardly shows up in the screens unfortunatley.

looks great, but how hard of a hit does the game play take form all the fog? I would like to do something like this if it dosnt lag the shit out of gameplay.

It's lovely how you've completely changed the expectations of a certain art style (being City 17 in this case) just through lighting and fog.

    Good work.

Actually, if you're the same dux, I remember some of your Natural Selection mapping back in the day that rocked.

The map looks great, mainly because of the ambience you get from the fog and lighting. Unlike Valve's HL2 maps, this looks more than just pathways through a bunch of rectangles which have building textures. It has a much better flow of objects and brushes with few empty areas (from the shots at least).
