PSP!!!

I haven't really looked in to the machine, I'm not that interested and even if I were, I'm sure I wouldn't buy it, there is way too much spending going on with games atm, and when Xenon launches there will be even more.

But it's current set of games are pretty interesting compared to my DS, but I'm a fan of multiplayer and DS seems to be the top dog when the Nintendo network launches. Can't imagine what PSP game would possibly beat Metroid, and Metroid on a deathmatch over internet.

I'm sure they'll crack the 2.0 firmware, there's always a way around these things.

I'll get mine tomorrow, since the releasedate in europe is 1st of september.. can't wait!

I just ordered an import Japanese one since it was a bargain (listed in an inappropriate ebay section - nobody noticed it ), but its not arrived yet. Should be here tomorrow, and it had BETTER be here at the weekend as I'm off on holiday and would really like to have it for the journey!

It comes with Spiderman 2 the game (not exactly a game I'm bothered about!), but I also ordered myself Metal Gear Acid (which arrived today) and Lumines (which hasn't). I'm planning on picking up Ridge Racer and Wipeout Pure at some point, but decided not to for now as I didn't want to get import versions and possibly miss out on being able to play multiplayer games. Other games on my list are Dynasty Warriors (more of the same I know, but I still enjoy it ), Untold Legends (lots of hack and slash action a la Diablo I hear), Burnout Legends when it appears, and I'll probably import the Japanese "Bleach 2" since I love the anime. Pity I completely can't afford any of that!

Firmware 2.0 comes on the included disc, Mazzle. You may as well upgrade if you can't homebrew.

As for me, I'm too poor to buy one, especially as I'm saving for a 360 come November. I'll probably buy one next year.

We've had 6 american ones since the US launch free from sony, snazzy stuff.. personally have put scummvm on all of 'em..

The only problem I have with the PSP is the games, none of them are appealing to me at all.

Nintedo pushed Metroid to next year to add some Nintendo network multiplayer goodness, it was going to be released like in a month or so.

But I can't really see how anyone at all, would choose PSP over DS judging both by the games, DS has Advance Wars (and you can play the earler AWs too), it has Metroid coming with some really sexy multiplayer goodness and the fps control with the touchpad is like heaven, plus CASTLE-FUCKING-VANIA is on it's way to bring us the cool, and Namco is making new DIG DUG.

What PSP has? Poop on a stick? AIDS? What? Come on! Only thing even remotely interestin on PSP is Battlefield 2: MC (IF it is ever coming) and Darkstalkers.

I love the DS because it's perfect for all these I'm-waiting-for-the-bus- and I-need-entertainment-while-pooping-in-toilet-situations.

PSP has way better racing game offerings than DS has atm, and the sad fact that GT4:Mobile will be PSP exclusive (well duh) makes it bit more attractive to racing game fans.

And PSP has the advantage of running emulators on it

Woohoo, my Japanese PSP arrived today, and thankfully it has v1.5 firmware! Spiderman 2 (game) came with it and while its nothing special, its better than nothing I guess. I also have Metal Gear Acid, which from my uber short playing time (about 95% of which was intro stuff and the rest a short tutorial) seems pretty rocking. Looks awesome visually and I do enjoy a bit of turn based strategy, while the random card system and hunting down all 200 of them should provide plenty of replayability. If they bring me a portable Front Mission, even a port or collection of the earlier ones, I'd be uber happy Lumines rounds off my collection thus far, but it still hasn't arrived

I'm a big racing game fan so the PSP wins out by a mile for me...even if I haven't actually bought a racing game for it yet The problem is I can't decide which! Wipeout, Ridge Racer, TOCA, and Burnout Legends are all looking awesome, but I simply can't buy them all! Plus I love FFVII far more than I should, so the fact Crisis Core (whatever it is) is coming out in the PSP is another clincher DS does have some interesting looking games on it, but there is far more that interests me that is out or coming out on the PSP. Plus mp3/video/homebrew support - uber I'm thinking of doing a bit of dev for it myself actually.
