aevirex: the playermodel is not that hight as it seems on the shot because my toon shader extends lines over the model boundaries so it looks a little bit more handdrawn.

sindwiller: i cant speak the russian language or have an idea of their alphabet. all i hadwas an ukrainian alphabet from wikipedia and this reference shot: http://pix.fine.kiev.ua/egor/pic/0007p8h4

maybe i missed something but it looked ok for me.

    My first attempt at skinning.

Still lots to learn, but I wanted to have it online anyway.

Maybe I'll laugh at it in a year.

harefort: i hope this will be your last "skin" because it's not a skin, it's a texture! The skin is polygonmesh binded to a skeleton and not a texture or any other 2d image.

though your texture looks nice and well done for a first try. How about texturing something more complex now? like a car such as KIIIA is doing

    kiiia:

the backwheel is getting crappy reflections. try to get a better environmentmap. maybe increase the reflectivity by 300% and why did you take a side view? please post some more dynamic perspective views i still can remember that i showed you some tricks (play with focal length etc.)

Well, you've made one of the letters wrong. Theres no "Д" (thats the cyrillic D) like you have modelled it, it is a "Л" (the cyrillic L; can also be written like a triangle, like shown on the image). This is very important, because it would be "gotela" (with a closed a). You can easily find the similarity between the english or the german word "Hotel" with "gotela".

it feels kinda squat for some reason. I suggest getting a better environment map and looking into HDR because the shader is what is really bringing the model down at this point.

Astounding model though. Forgive me but the renders aren't exactly ruining it for me, looks fantastic.

This is just because you know stuff, ppl here are rather talented so they notice things. And you give good advice so im not like pointing finger at you saying you are mean or anything. I just want to say when i say it i go all WOOOA and starts to drowl It's good though that not all are like me but can look at it at a more professional poit of view and give constructive critism. Anyways KIIA WOOOA!!! :þ~~~

    http://www.smcars.net/forums/tutorials/

here is some tutorials - mostly for modeling so you can only look for some tutorials with making env. to your scene...

    http://www.smcars.net/forums/textures-materials/

and the materials/car paints etc. - this one sould be helpful for you

this looks nice (you need to be registered):

    http://www.smcars.net/forums/tutorials/ ... setup.html

try also to register on SMCars forum and look for finished .max/.3ds models and look how other modelers made materials, scene etc.

    have fun

I started this over a year ago for dod:s, but had no hope of skinning it, and since no one else offered to in that time, I spent today adding more details and unwrapping it. It's 5021 polies so far, unwrapped to a 2048x2048 texture.
