kurt_loeffler: I first thought that would be an outdoor lantern or something like that. The concrete really seems a little bit out of place for a trashcan, but nevertheless I like that model. Great texture work!

Woah! How many teeth does that guy have?

-
-
now that is a toothy grin.

Reminds me of Apex Twin

kurt_loeffler: Awesome trashcan!
-
Hahaha the head made me smile ! +1
great job on the eyes and overall expression aswell !
-
I really love the look of that trashcan! I wonder how they could ever fit any trash in it with walls that massive

Here's an update on my piano model, now featuring both normal and specular:
[Blocked Image: http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/2109/pompdonpianobt0.jpg]
I spent the entire last day trying to get a good render in Maya where the normal and specular shows clearly, but I didn't have too much of a success. My graphics card don't handle Hardware rendering too well, and the result above is about as good as I managed to get it with mentalray. If anyone knows how to get a good render of normals and speculars in Maya, I'm begging you!
-
how on earth do you get the rubbish back out?
-
With a chisel? I guess there's a bit of artistic license at work there, tis a very nice model!
Very nice piano too pomperi

-
That's so awesome pomperi

-
actualy i have seen a lot of concrete trashcans in my life...
-
yeah me too, though I doubt the concrete would bend on them... but besides that the ones I've seen dont look as good as that one.

that piano is some crazy awesome as well.

*edit*: sry, is 1024x768 too big for the forums layout to be posted directly ?
oh well after a decade of not having modelled anything i just took my holiday time today and made some peng!uin for my weird mod project (diddy kong racing clone). maybe some of you remember it from years ago when i posted these vehicles and whatnot^^
*update* i just checked and the first models were shown in january 2005 (I think i started with it in october 2004 - at least that's the oldest model file date
)i know i know, zaphod has his project everywhere and his stuff is really outstanding. it really motivated me again at least for today to model something for myself again. but since for me this is just for fun and probably will never see the light of day, here you go, peng! the penguin in his vehicles:

Oh yeah finally !! pretty nice model acumen, clean mesh and all, i especially like the plane and the little aviator goggles you made him.
In terms of shapes and design you could go a bit further tho, the kart seems to be one big soap box from afar
: you could resize up the motor and the back wing thingie and why not extrude some polies aboves the tires ? It will have a way more interesting silhouette imo. Also in the same optic, for the plane you could bend a bit the wings, especially if the player will look the vehicle from behind.
I just checked and it's been about a year i did that concept for you Acumen

What the heck were you doing !!!

-
yeh the kart "design" (if one can even call it like that) was made like that on purpose in the end. i had quite some tries on these vehicles. some realistic ones as zaphod did, but then i also went back and forth with the diddy kong screens i saved on my hd and i thought that these were rather simply shape and detailwise. like the car has a shoe shape - so mine has that soap box shape - thats great for me

so i tried all these vehicles, put a character in it and rendererd a video of it in max to see how it might look like perspective wise ingame.
here's some old ones to show what i mean:

[Blocked Image: http://www.acumen-design.de/mod_info_koko/car4_render2.jpg]
to me it was important to have the same key features as the original diddy kong ones without totally ripping and copying it. so i have 2 big lights, a spoiler and the visible tires on the backside of it and i think it works out nice from the perspectice. i don't want to overdetail the cars and characters like zaphod did this for example. im loving his stuff and its most awesomely inspiring and all, but its not what i wanted to do with my characters. it was always about the fluffy puffy cutey characters with cars that don't really have any realistic reference or something like that (e.g. working motor details or stuff like that).
but the penguin is just the right kind of detail/shape/character that i always wanted

that's why i never had a successful try at modeling your character. it always looked so busy to me (the hairy part)

and im so sorry for that

i wish i could have used it as it is - but i really have to simplify it a lot to keep it in the mod. but in the end - i mean i told you - chances that this will ever see the light of day, are soooooooo slim. im the only guy working on it. i have no textures, no coder, no nothing - just me modeling useless stuff

edit: and btw. even though i didnt reference your penguin concept on purpose i just stumbled over it and i think that's just the most awesome style for such creatures ever

it's so clean, simple but yet totally convincing in character and cuteness

Remington 1100?
My only suggestion is to add the cocking lever and maybe add some more polys to the bevel on the stock. However, that might not be necessary if it isn't going to be used as a world model.
Keep it up.
Edit: you can also extend the handguard furniture further in the rear to where it is flush with the receiver, it will save you some polys too.
Like this:

Thanks for your suggestions Chunks but i forgot to add that its actually a Remington 870 so your suggestions might have been a little mislead.
Sorry about that but thanks a lot.
