What the hell. I just went to bed and when I woke up, I saw about 20 replies on my thread.
ReNo, I read your critics and I have the same opinion as you. A lot of newbies say that, I know, but it is still a work in progress. This overgrown setting is exactly my intention for the garden and the whole area. The problem will be to not loose the performance. I started a jungleproject, which I had to cancel because the Source engine was fucked up with all this Alpha and Alphatesting stuff.
To get this thing working, I will try to reduce all the plants to a few polyplanes and combine them in a big model.
Anyway, gotta go to work now.

indeed looking very, very good. i love that you use so much custom material
-
whoa, looks amazing!
MORE!

Looks like a photograph but maybe thats cause our little fried "Mr Photoshop sharpening filter" have been there. great work nontheless
-
The pics certainly hold alot of atmosphere and yes, the foiliage is indeed working in your favor sir. When I saw the last pic I thaught it might just perfectly fit in a hl2 zombiemod.

My advice 2 u is to hold a close eye to the balance (detailwise).

Succes

First two shots still looked similar to some of the recent CSS maps, but especially the last shot really does it. Adding some more trees might improve the scene somewhat though, and having a forest in your 3D skybox would be great.
Reminds me of some sort of fantasy setting, like a good place to live or such. Definitely looks good. Keep up the work man!

Nice work so far. The only crits that i have is skybox and lighting. Some work here and the map will look even nicer.
And in the first pic the stone texture in the background is mirrored.

good job so far hessi. It looks like france, is it?

I'd just like to add this reminds me of BiA, and I now must play it again.

I'm sorry to sound negative, especially after reading all this positive feedback, but this really doesn't appeal to me much just yet. Honestly I thought these were all standard resources from some of the newer CS:S maps - before I read the other comments my feedback was going to be "looks like source". Would hardly be the first map earning such a comment...in fact it almost has to be particularly stand out NOT to
From these shots, I'm seeing a nice window, and a nice doorway, one of which doesn't line up properly with your wall and both of which appear to be differently scaled versions of the same model. Of course nothing is wrong with the latter of the two "issues", but the fact they are placed right next to each other made it stand out quite obviously to me. You clearly have modelling skills so I'd say it would be nice to make unique models for each of these - even if its just a taller set of legs for the doorway arch, it would mean the widths of the arch pieces match up and the scaling factor is no longer the only difference.Like the others I think the greenery is working in your favour here and you should push the overgrown setting to set yourself apart from the crowd. The map certainly has potential and I'm keen to see what you do with it, but I guess its important to hear some critical feedback amongst the praise, no?

Whoa, really surprised with a comment like this and from you, since you praised Bluestrikes map in the WIP-thread. Because this really rawks much more than that, especially the 3rd shot. Nothing wrong with BS's map but this map is in a whole different scale on it's own.
Excellent work Hessi, 3rd shot one of the nicest thing I've seen with Source.

That last picture makes me wet..
...this is a good thing.. no really.

I didn't mean my comments as offence and I'm not biased toward bluestrike or anything of the sort, its just my thoughts. I was probably being overly critical because everybody else was being so positive, which might be a bit unfair but I was caught of guard by the amount of praise that these three screenshots (two of which are essentially just showing off one arch model) were recieving. Don't get me wrong, this IS looking good, better than the majority of maps, but I don't think its at the point yet that it could be described as anything like "nicest thing in source". It could get there of course...

beautiful.

This is wip level gallery and comments & critsism are needed of course, sorry if i sounded too mean
Love you. not in the gay way

These screenshots make me want to redo a BiA level I made only not for XBOX so I can have real texture memory to work with and abundant details. Nice ambience and feel, really looks like an old church.
-
I agree with reno 1000%, and personally im also more impressed by Bluestrikes shots than hessi's, not that its a competition. I guess it has to do with the scale of things.
-
Wait, BiA Xbox got extra levels

-
First, nice work, I dig the foliage alot. The third shot has a nice lush and atmosphere.
Second, the first and second screen isn't all that impressive I think, I just don't like the inside as much as the outside (goes with ALOT of maps, just look at new assault), and this theme is not good for CS, not at all. I think you could make a better map if this would be HLDM, HLCTF or maybe wait til DoD is released. Why I said HLDM/CTF is because the theme can be made to a very nice map, even if its played fast, the map reminds of some Unreal and Quake maps (ofc also Mohaa/Cod).
