if it's about gameplay, why bother updating it at all? just to bring attention back i guess? and if it doesn't look much better but inherently has more computational overhead, isn't it just providing a laggier game and thus less value for the paying customer? if it's the same game, why should someone buy this instead of a discounted earlier generation SKU with better functionality?

seems to me they're just trying to sell you nostalgia.

From what i can see in the videos, it looks a bit slower than q3 (which is a good thing). I cant see much from the video tho, no other players walking around and the stupid fuck almost never fires a gun

That was from some kid the night before the demos went live. Watch some people who actually know how to play DM: http://renton.uams.edu/Quakecon2k5/Quake4Multi.mp4 (planetquake3.net or some similar site also had some good clips (including at least one other map) on a larger video. Also a video somewhere of fatality wiping the floor with some 12 year old, heh...

Quicktime should handle it, my computer at work tossed a warning when I did it but it still played just fine.

I wouldn't say that it is a bad thing, I don't think anyone can come up with a great set of completely new weapons to a game like this and still do it as good as the original q3 had. The new weapons would be same shit on slightly different package like UT2k4 weapons.

Gins: I can imagine that a new Physics system can add something new really but most of all i agree with ya. But that's something that could be said about, well, almost any game. Gameplay is not improving that much lately (with a few exceptions that are incredibly new and exciting), only graphics are.

Mostly SP, but a little here and there on a couple MP maps. Some of which was shown at quakecon, woo!
