instead of crates, u can use blocks of ice or other shapes, cut out from the floor perhaps or have a giant crack in the icefloor with the ocean beneath. Some rocks as well, i dont see any rock so looks more like concrete is underneath it all. Some wheeltracks on the snow, some green camo or yellow arctic army tents would fit in too i think and sum snow sticking on the walls and hanging from roofs.... and inside.... molten rivers of icewater with lucious blingbling crystals growing on the walls. That tree doesnt look very arctic btw

Oh and i think what bothers me about the stuff in ur skybox is that almost all maps ive seen use that cylinder thing. Industrial maps, city 17 maps, even inferno which is supposed to be a meditarenean town is surrounded by that thing:(

It doesnt really make ur map stand out or look arctic

I'm with RD, except the rock part.

Don't think you'd find actual rock around there, but stonecold ice would be sweet.

I really like the look of the inside, but the yard needs a little work (as you have already acknowledged). In the first picture of the outside, it looks wonderful, but as the player moves, the architecture starts to look a lot less varied, more contrived and a lot less natural. As others have picked up on, it also looks very cluttered. The rest of it looks awesome

Some more images, but this time of the T spawn. The last lot of outside images were of the CT spawn point. All of the criticisms given for the last batch of pics also apply here. No work has been done on these areas since the earlier images, so please don't think we are ignoring the criticism! The areas will change a lot when they are worked on again.

Shadows on the floor loot a bit lame at the moment, because the no draw brush has not been added underneath the displaced snow. Name will also change for certain.

    it looks pretty good.

my only complaint is that it looks to cluttered (the buildings), and looks a little like some of the buildings are just there to be there.

and please, get some alpha painting done on the ground

Could do with a smidge more texture variation on those buildings.

    Looks promising though.

zeOx - agreed, a bit far fetched.

Scmung - agreed as well. A bit too uniform. Will look at this.

Some more images of a few different areas. What we already know about all the images is that the snow looks too flat, and too boring. We need to add tracks, shadows, bushes etc to break up the monotony. Constructive criticism appreciated. Will soon start to work on the criticism people have given.

This map really got the oldschool cs look and it looks stunning, lovin' it!

But it needs some other lights than just white.. Maybe use some blue/red around the bomb site so it's easier to get around the map (many areas look the same)

skjalg has a point, but I'm glad you put so much detail above. Stuff like that adds to overall believability.

As for the comments about the lights. The only thing that has been tweaked is the placement. colours and the brightness has not been altered too much because it would take almost a day of continuious work to get how we want it, which we belive should be time spent once the brushwork and geomitryof that area has been done first.

But dont worry, the lighting will be altered loads

Also, skdr, snow is not possible using a basic entity. We would have to use embers which, quite frankly, look crap.

Unless they have updated the sdk, that entity doesnt work with snow. only rain

MJ - Don't know if there is anything that can really be done about the horizontal textures thing. To be honest, I would never have thought of this as being an issue.

Skjalg - Indeed, the actual playable areas need a fair bit of work.

skdr - My one mapping wish is for Valve to add a working snow entity!

Ginseng - I would do an overview...if I knew how. Anyone have any links?

Marcos - The lights thing is a great idea! Would fit the map as well if done properly.

As usual, appreciate the criticism. Lots to think about.

yikes another kewl level in the works, like allot of people said it has that really nice "old" school touch but with allot of class and polish which i love

Some things i feel don't fit like the corigated metal textures from hl2 but that's being picky!

Visuals i like but is the gameplay any good overview gogogogo
