The game is still in early access, but the reception has been overwhelmingly positive (96% positive of 8.3k reviews on steam)

It does look and play like a modern version of SWAT 4

For all the "young" folks here who never got to play the classics back in the day or for veterans who didn't like tactical FPS games to try them, here are some short gameplay videos from the classics that led to this game of "Ready or Not".

I literally played the shit out of these back in 1998-99 on my trusted Pentium II, and seeing these missions and the officers names almost brought a nostalgic tear to my eye.

    Rainbow Six (1998)

Swat 4 was fantastic. I was always more keen on the original Ghost Recon games than the og Rainbow 6

Yes, according to the steam tags, it's single player and COOP against AI enemies.

    Different games though :)

R6 and SWAT are urban/suburbs CQB, while GR is more military ops across open world.

I still have the OG GR up to advanced warfighter in their original CDs/DVDs; big fan :)

Yep, when I was in my teens I don't think I realized this or cared to understand the distinction between the two series.

Though even between SWAT 4 and R6, SWAT 4 hooked me straight away while R6 never felt right to me and so I quickly gave up on it.

I really dont like how it copies swat4 in everything i have seen to this day. UI - commands - utilities - even some of the mechanics. I get that the whole idea was to create successor but having 2005 UX ideas in 2021 game is kinda meh...
