Appatently multiple explosions in london subway, alot of injured people and everything seems very unclear atm, but we have to just hope that casualties are kept to minimum.

Tony Blair confirmed that terrorists are behind these bombings.

Tony Blair is an pathological liar and an asshole, I don't trust his "intelligence" anybit. Just and opinion, like the terrorists.

Given the number of explosions that happened, their timing and nature, I don't exactly think its out of line for Tony Blair to say "Its reasonably clear this was a terrorist attack". 5 underground stations were hit, and a packed bus - what the hell ELSE is going to have done it other than terrorists?!

very interesting that I had some feeling I should check the news and was greeted with 80point font of Explosions in london.

Going to have to agree here with Reno, 4-5 explosions within a short period time isn't natural. Now who did it is a different story, especially with the G8 in the town.

My first reaction to the news WAS terrorist action, but we sensible people who actually have tendecy to wait for proof before even saying out loud the so called obvious especially this kind of cases where terrorists are involved and the current state of the world I would suggest to Tony Blair to stick to the afternoon tea party and shut his face.

Or is he deliberately trying to create panic and chaos in a town as large as London? He must have like a mind of a child or something.

Let me guess, these terrorists are from Iran.

Mojo, the G8 isn't quite "in the town"; London isn't exactly close to Gleneagles, where the G8 is being held. An Al-Qaeda group have claimed responsiblity, and threatened that Denmark and Italy can expect similar "punishment" for their crusade on Iraq and Afghanistan. Its yet to be confirmed that it was actually that group, but they are the only ones so far to claim they did it.

Kosmo, I really don't see what is wrong with Tony Blair acknowledging the fact it was probably a terrorist attack - better to tell the people what actually happened than wrap it up in nice, soft, cuddly lies. There hasn't been any panic and chaos, at least not outside the immediate effects of the explosions. I think people like a proactive leader who actually takes their place at the forefront of such issues - not sitting by at his "afternoon tea party" and ignoring anything has happened.

Yeah, I know that speakin your mind in a situation like this is propably what many would prefer, but Tony boy could have chosen his words more carefully like the police chief or what ever who said something like "we are still investigating the cause of the bombings, but we have found evidence of explosives on one of the sites, wether this is a terrorist act is yet uncertain" instead of Tony Going with "reasonably clear that we have a terrorist attack", in politics the suddle nuances of what you say are pretty important.

But it doesn't actually matter anymore since we have the clear (clear and clear, but good enough start) proof I and all the sensible people were looking for.

    kosmo you monkey.

it says in the article that terrorists claimed credit for it. that would lead a logical person to infer that yes, it is REASONABLY CLEAR that it was terrorists that did it.

you are so quick to bust tony blair down a peg you didn't even read to see if it was an appropriate time to do so.

but yeah its a good thing we got "sensible" people like you looking out for the rest of us.

    Fucked up stuff

Its not really that its that surprising tbh tho, Tony Blair also said something a while ago, that he didnt see it to be a question of if it would happen, but rather of when.

It is a bit too early to say anything, but it looks like it could have been ALOT worse. Seems more focused on sabotaging the transport system rather than killing people, although they certainly got that done as well.

    Hmm

in the news on danish television a reporter from the danish channel TV2 said that on a site some part of al quida toke the credit from it and said that it was a warning to the other contries like USA, Denmark and so, but the reporter said it was most bluff, but i dont think so, terrrists are fucked in the head.

I might be a monkey, but Tony Blair jumped to the terrorist conclusion hours before any word about terrorists was even mentioned, and if I remember correct, they didn't even have the evidence of explosives at the time of Blairs interview, which then was still a accident, electricity related explosion.

But then again, they might have quoted Blair incorrect, that is very possible.

The power surge explanation came after the first two explosions, but after another one in the subway, and the bus exploded, it was pretty clear it wasn't that. All 4 explosions occured in a fairly short time space, and I think it wasn't until after all 4 had occured that Blair made his speech.

    Hey,

A few of my friends were in London at one of the tube stations literally an hour before the blasts occured, suffice to say they were pretty shaken up. They are alive and well though and coping with their near-death experience.

I was actually going to be taking a trip to London tomorrow but it was cancelled earlier on last month, I wouldn't of been in the area from today but it makes you think about things...

EDIT: and of course I should keep reading all the thread and not just page 2 before I post :X, just going to keep what I posted anyways

ok I was up til 9am, so I had been up for 23 hours when I was writing that responce and just wanted to sleep. Yeah I know the G8 is actually in Scotland and not in London, but it is the same island so I am technically correct. But then by that regard, you could say that the G8 were in town if they were in LA and something bad happened in New York.

The noun terrorist has one meaning:

Meaning #1: a radical who employs terror as a political weapon

The adjective terrorist has one meaning:

Meaning #1: characteristic of someone who employs terrorism (especially as a political weapon)

Even if they aren't Osama Binladen, but are the IRA or some Liberian rebels or Chinese Exetreme Party, by using terror as a weapon, in this case the bombings, then they are terrorists. Explosions like this just don't happen on their own, especially 5 in a small area within an hour. Now I am not saying they should go bomb Iran or anything since 'Terr'rists" are at work. It seems what is happenign is quite the contrary and an investigation is going, unless maybe some group takes responsibility
