Old school Half Life 2 on Alyx

    Hello there ! I think you understand the title :D. Do you know if there is an official way of creating Half Life 2 like map on Alyx ? Maybe some of you already tested some way ?


    I saw some people playing with some kind of non VR mod with Half Life 2 weapons working well :

    I had several protoype of levels I would like to port on this engine.

    I mean, Alyx is only for VR users. I agree a pancake game would reach more people, but they obviously want to push VR, so that would defeat the point from their perspective. They want VR to become more popular so they can deliver crazier experiences.

    I've been tempted to get the game just to try and learn the tools and play with some old HL2 ideas in the new engine... kinda intrigued if it would be possible to make something playable without having the VR set [and rely on playtest].

    But I've also read about the awful compile times on @FMPONE's twitter, so that's very discouraging considering I have a much older machine in comparison.

    much like the rest of VR, the compile times put it in the category of requiring high-end hardware

    I hope I get a new job soon and then to be able to justify upgrading. Although I'm not sure I can get back to a desktop setup due to space... atm I'm working on a small folding desk ?
