Sin City *movie*

I saw it on saturday and yes, it is a masterpiece. The cinematography is mindblowing. You could pause it anytime and hang that frame on the wall.
-
Sin city is easily the best comicbook adaptation to date, and it is one of greatest movies in couple of years.
-
Although i've seen a dozen movies that i liked far better, even the last couple of years, it's awesome. It reminded me of Max Payne in many ways, which is good. I loved the style, the story and everything about it.
-
tbh then i was kinda disappointed after having seen it, but thats because i mainly gave into alot of the hype.
Its a really awesome movie, no doubt, the visual style is mindblowingly cool and such. The story just didnt do anything for me, but hey, its a totally mindless action movie so wth

I thought it was almost entirely a crappy movie with only a few really good parts.
Come on! The dialogue was absolute drivel with people spewing it like sour milk all over your mothers drapes. It was just absolutly blah to me. Sure some of the visuals were cool but on the greater whole they were mostly just normal old black and white noir looking stuff.
Man you guys should check out Chinatown if you want noir.
Atleast that movie's good.

the only good thing about sin city was jessica alba

Funny my reaction was also meh for similar reasons, but it's pretty clear the filmmakers knew how it would land when they made it. The intention was to make it feel like it was a literal port of the comic book to the big screen. That means really cheesy bad dialogue and over the top action/visuals. I mean it definitely had a tight style and they kept it pretty consistent, so I'd say the accomplished what they intended. Personally, I don't care for comic books that much so the less a movie about a comic book or comic book character feels like a comic book the better.
Case in point: the latest Batman movie blows away all the previous 4.
Anyway, there was some cool stuff in Sin City like that Japanese assassin chick and Jessica Alba's...everything.

Aah, gotta love mapcore's taste in movies.
-
jessica alba was in it.....normally that would be a good thing....but when we're talking about if a movie is good or not.....yeah its a bad thing
-
A movie can be good even if it has flaws.
-
Mention one flawless film... there is flaws in every film ever made, but its just a question of personal taste

Add Rosie, Amores Perros and Nobody Knows to that list

There are some films I consider to be flawless.
such as ?
I'll probably get bashed for my answer but I don't care: Braveheart, Schindler's List, Raiders of the Lost Ark.
as Ive said before its just a question of personal taste, but yes you are right, they are indeed great films, but by no means flawless......

Please, tell me their flaws.

braveheart : awesome movie but by no means flawless. heavy handed voice outro ending? a few cheeseball montages. Other than that, awesome.
Schindler's List : Agree. But that movie HAD to be flawless to work on the level it did.
Raiders of the Lost Ark : Best Indiana Jones movie. But Temple of Doom is SO bad it actually makes Raiders worse (take notes mr lucas.)
flawless movies (imo) : road to perdition. fight club. leon the professional.
-
Road to Perdition: I've seen it once so I can't say much here. I thought it was pretty good but I didn't get that "WOW!" feeling you should get after a "perfect movie".
Fight Club: An obvious choice. Very well made movie and I agree that it's pretty much flawless.
Leon: An awesome movie but if we have to be over-the-top critical, the ending would've been much more powerful if Besson had placed Shape of My Heart a little differently (don't hate me for this comment
).DEFENCE
Braveheart: do you mean Wallace's narration in the last sequence? And there is only one "montage" in the film that I can think of (Wallace running on the mountains) and I think it's far from a flaw.
Raiders: I don't believe that a sequel can ruin the original film. For example Terminator 3, I just totally ignore its existence. Other similar examples are Jaws 2 and Jaws 3-D, lol.
And BTW, Temple of Doom is also brilliant but still not as good as the others.
