We need more wars on this planet!

Actually there were enough wars that could be used in games, e.g. the Korean War, the Bosnian War, many wars in Afrika as well as in South Amerika and last but not least, the war in Iraq. Well, I guess the reason why so many developers prefer WWII is simply because the second part of the war (when the USA came into play) is being considered by most people for a "good" war, because it was all about kicking Hitler's ass and that can't be a bad thing.

Other wars are more controversial, that's probably the reason why many game companies want to stay politcally correct and choose a "good war" for their games.

Just to burst ur balloon Sensee, it was mostly the Russians which kicked hitlers ass. America lost like half a million troops, russians around 25million. But then again, Russian soldiers were almost just as bad for germans as the nazis were for jews, but i cant blame em=) I would like to play a game this brutal

Yes, I know perfectly well that common soldiers and the average street person were not Nazis nor did they support the acts that they did, but if you think about it, there has not been a single Nazi in RTS or FPS games since the days of Wolfenstein and Spear. So why did they leave them off?

In these "realistic" games you never attack and save people from concentration camps nor do they tell you about the things that went down behind the closed door with Himmler and his SS. So now we have kiddies who think that WW2 was cool because of Tom Hanks and his Band of Brothers series. All people who have studied WW2 do not think it was that glamorous, just like RD said, american soldiers were mostly kids with no idea what they were doing and SS had some very sick agenda.

Maybe it is just me and maybe I'm wrong for hating WW2 and people who make it so glamorous, because when I watched those documents I got sick and almost threw up, and that is the effect those games should have, to remind us of what it really was, and not to entertain us.

But yeah, now if those games were as brutal as they should, they wouldn't make them, and actually, that would be way better.

I hear ya, but often times the units who were the hardcore Nazi supporters weren't anywhere near the frontlines. Thats not exactly handy for a war game, after all. If we're trying to be historically accurate, you wouldn't really run into these units in a game like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or Brothers in Arms. Seeing as how these games (outside of BIA) are already borderline arcady and hold very loosely to history, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't implement Nazi-ized soldiers outside of the fact that many people find it offensive and the swastika is banned in Germany.

But yeah, I know what you're saying. If you've got an adrenaline meter, boss battles and other arcady shit like that, why wouldn't they throw some Nazi scum into the mix as well? I don't know.

Personally I don't get the WWII is old argument. Its not the setting you hate, its the games. There are 2 billion post-apocalypic FPSs, but that setting sees a satisfactory amount of innovation that keeps it fresh. You have games like Medal of Honor: European Assualt that has things like an adrenaline meter where if you get enough adrenaline, you get infinite ammo and you're invurnable. That shit is whack.

Well I don't know how deep the Nezism went in the regular soldier, but SS troops were very much in the front line, especially the Waffen-SS and many commando missions were ran by SS officers and soldiers, and all SS had pretty stron connections to Nazi ideology and Himmlers dream.

The games don't even mention things like Himmlers plans for state within a state and his enourmos castle building and all the occult shit that went down, both axis and allies were pretty afraid of that stuff and I think that many still are, atleast I am, they were more than crazy, they were ideological fanatics with no sense of reality, and they were in the highest positions of an imperium.

You should check out document series called Occult History of the Third Reich, scares the shit out of you and then back in I promise you that.

I understand the bannind of Swastika and anything other Nazi related, it was not a happy time, but then again, UK didn't ban anything related to Margaret Thatcher and she was not in the right mind  (no, not that I compare Thatcher to Nazis but many see her as totalitarian and something that should not have happened).

They are in... Canada! In Vancouver on the Western coast of Canada. Just a stone throw away from Whistler/Black Comb which is supposedly the best snowboarding terrain on the American continent. So perfect for a Norwegian such as yourself...
