This game looks so beautiful and it isn't next gen. The are probably very good at hidding loading, seams and pop in.

Can't believe we didn't have a topic on this. Just discovered an amazing Twitter thread... by one of the devs I think

    start of the thread

I've not followed this at all but saw this blow up on Twitter after it aired. Gave it a watch this morning and I want this game. Looks beautiful and the gameplay looks like it'll be a fun mix between Assassin's Creed and Zelda: BOTR. It got me hyped!

"But you can't have exploration without curiosity..."

    That's like, soooo deep, dude.

Pretentious guff aside, the visuals are worth skipping through the muted video. ?

Finally watched this last night, and I know SP have worked on other sandbox games before, but I wasn’t expecting this level of Assassin’s Creed/Far Cry “tick the box on the map”. Yes, it’s done much more poetically as you would expect a game set in Japan, but from the first gameplay I was expecting a much more linear game. (Rewatching that video now i can recognise the telltale signs I ignored at the time)

I hope the sword fighting is richer than it seems because it really evokes AC’s counter-based strategy, instead of a richer combo system.

All I hope is that the game doesn't have rpg leveling mechanics like assassins creed. I don't mind getting a new sword every hour or so in a game like BOTW, but I don't want to be constantly looking for an item that has slightly better numbers so I don't get fucked by the enemies. I want to be able to choose what weapon I use, not look for the statistically best gear.

    +1000

This is why I loved BOTW's weapon system so much. I actually love the fact they break, it's what makes the game work so well.

    Another open world... sigh...

But, it does look fairly enticing. They've been working and polishing this for years, and from the brief videos I've watched it does look fun to play. Plus, it's getting reviewed very well by reviewers I personally trust.

I'll probably pick this up once I finish Fallout 1 (yeah, you read that right)

Looks like everything I hoped it would be. I believe this could very well become a goty contender for me once I get time to play it.

Damn, I love when he said that the game actually makes you use your eyes for guidance. Love that they use the wind to guide you as well.

Like, I love R* open world games as much as the next man, but I hate that I have to constantly look at the small square with a minimap in the corner of my screen for the vast majority of the play time.

You can expect it to (maybe) release on PC right before PS6 launch. Stay tuned!

Pretty hyped for this now. That review above made me really excited for the combat and exploration. I say this about every PS4 game but damn I wish I had a Pro to get some extra bells n whilstles.

Quote Basically Ghost of Tsushima in this regard is like an Assassin's Creed game... but good

Got this a couple of days ago.

One thing that surprised me and caught me off guard is how well written the story is. It's a bit on the serious side, but it's made in a way that completely got my attention and curiosity. I legit wanna see where it's going and it keeps me wanting to go back. The feeling of the gameplay is pretty smooth, very reminiscent of Souls/Bloodborne, just slightly more forgiving. So if you liked those games, you'll definitely like Tsushima. I love the absence of a minimap, their wind feature really works too.

The art is no RDR2, but the vibrancy of the lighting and art direction really makes for some breath taking vistas.

I played the ps5 version of this. It's crazy how well it's put together, it's one of the best open world games in my opinion.

The minimalistic approach for the HUD worked so well. Using a wind mechanic as a guidance system was brilliant. Though they still needed a blinking HUD element to highlight the interaction point when you got close enough. There were only a handful of instances where I didn't get that indicator and took me a few minutes to find the exact place for a button press.

One of the few open world games where the combat didn't feel like tedious busywork at the end of the game.
