So it is that time of the year again. Blizzcon is getting close and i dont think that the hype has been bigger than than ever before. Rumors of Bolvar/Lich king return I'm Wow, rumors of Overwatch 2, rumors of Diablo 4 AND Diablo 2 remaster. Even saw some streamers discussing a whole new IP being revealed.

One thing is for sure, I can't wait! Might even buy a Virtual Ticket for this one. Can't be as bad as last year right?

Is this actually a thing?? Pay to watch a stream? Greediness has no limits.

The best part is, beyond in game items there is no actual point to buyign a virtual ticket, people will re-stream it else ware and alot of the time blizzard posts highlights

To be fair, it probably has to do with people paying money to go to the actual convention , if it streamed free at home why would anyone visit? Its pretty expensive tho!

Apple WWDC costs $1600 to participate, sells out in a matter of hours if not minutes, yet the keynote stream is live and free. The workshop sessions are also available after the event.

E3 costs $250 and is covered by different websites in real time, plus publishers have their own streams.

Even Star Citizen, the most heavily monetised legal rip-off joke of a game, has tickets for $140 but a free stream.

Have you ever been to a concert? You don’t pay just for the content of the presentation when you decide to attend, there’s a suite of other benefits from networking, to trying the products presented etc.

You can watch most of the stuff for free on the Blizzcon website, you only need a virtual ticket if you really want to watch every single panel (and the closing ceremony).

    Overwatch 2 trailer!

Both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 seem like they're iterations on the old engines, which is fine. I guess Diablo 4's trailer just wowed me a bit more, if I'm honest? Hopefully more stuff comes out that shows why people who may not have played Overwatch 1 that much should tune into the sequel. The co-op PVE stuff is nice, but the robots don't seem to have a ton of personality as villains, I can't get too excited about the prospect of fighting them.

I Love that all old progress, like unlocked skins etc, comes with you in Overwatch 2. Gotta say the cinematics were amazing. Diablo 4 cinematic had me and My Friend screaming like girls at a Justin Bieber concert.

An for Overwatch, a Gothenburg map, woooh. Can't wait to see future IKEA haha!

Love the fact that D4 is going back to the roots a bit more. That looked great, if maybe slightly tooooo desaturated? Still way more up my street than D3 :D Nice work all.

New Overwatch patch looks good ;)

Diablo 4 cinematic trailer, the CG is absolutely stunning. Diablo 3's CG cinematic blew my pants off with their graphicalness but this new one was something else. The way the membrane became her cape at the end with the camera slowly panning was jaw dropping - well done to all involved with that. I was also super happy by how much more hostile and oppressive the world looks in the gameplay trailer too - there was actual blood! This certainly looks a step up from D3 in every way. To complete the feeling, the only thing I think I could comment on is that Matt Uelmen needs to be invited back to do the music. I always felt that Blizzard kinda misunderstand the importance of his music for the world of Diablo.

Oh man, totally agree. His music was incredible. I can't even remember one track from D3. Have you ever listened to the Burning Crusade soundtrack? It's as memorable as the D2 soundtrack to me, definitely has that Uelmen feel.

Diablo is much more straight foward than path of exile. Less cluttered.

That Diablo 4 cinematic was spot on. Best one since the Diablo II opening cinematic to me. In-game footage looking good, too. Gotta read up more on the details of open world and spaces shared with other players.

On the Overwatch side of things: I still play it frequently. I really, really like the game but nothing that I've seen coming out of Blizzcon greatly excites me about Overwatch 2? I'm always up for new maps and heroes but I guess that's the downside of spoiling players with exactly that on the first game, for free, for years. In the end, I'll probably end up buying it for the new content anyway so what am I talking about haha

I think this is a good example of where Blizzard went wrong with their Overwatch 2 promo. One of the talking points was an upgraded graphics engine, but this difference is subtle IMO. Plus, if you did want to highlight the changes to the engine, wouldn’t it be smart to keep the design the same at first, to allow for a 1:1 comparison? Without a direct before and after you have to just hope people like a completely different outfit more than the last one.

I have total confidence OW2 will be a good game that’s noticeably better than the original, but nothing in the trailers showed that at all. The reason I’m confident is because apparently the game won’t be out for a while yet, and there’s plenty of time to really refine things.

Focusing the cinematic on Winston the entire time was a weird choice as well, he’s just not a visually pleasing character design (IMO again) and he absolutely dominated the runtime.
