Frustration with Counter-Strike Source Servers

Do you agree with my frustrations? 0

    1. Yes of course I do DD. (0) 0%
    2. Well actually DD, I disagree with you and I suck at life. (0) 0%

Before I go off on my rant I'd like to explain two beliefs of mine. I believe no man should exist for another and that every man should live and perform to the best of their ability. With that said people should run their not cheap to run CSS servers however they want, but remember I still believe they should not suck at life.

My royal complaint list of fortitude:

    1. Stop using lame admin mod sounds. This includes: Movie and tv show sound clips such at Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, Beavis and Butthead, which are all great shows if not played out to hell by f-tards. This also includes UT2K3 announcer sounds. If I wanted to hear a UT2K3 sounds I would play that game, which I don't like to play, I like to PLAY FUCKING CS!!!! STFU STFU STFU STFU!!!! I also partially blame not being able to turn off downloading, does cl_allowdownload 0 not working anymore?!?!

    2. Please put a warning in the server title if you use bots!!! I don't mind playing with bots when they're less than 50% of the server. If I get a warning I can check the server info and investigate how many bots are on the server, if I don't get a warning I often end up waiting for a massive CSS load time which is even long on my effing fast computer before having to cancel and find a new server.

    3. Put a FF warning in the server title!!!! Seriously, when did people start thinking FF enhanced CS gameplay. Did Christopher Reeves die and come back to life, say that CS servers should use FF then die again? Another thing, FF may make CS "more realistic" but CS is not very realistic!!! One of the reasons I like CS so much is because there are so many things about the game where Valve and its creators sacrificed realisim for FUN. It's not realistic for someone to be strafing around in front of you when you're firing a gun down a narrow hall, where this idiot usually strafes in front of your fire and dies then uses a admin mod to slay you not realizing they are a fucking idiot. These kinds of server admins praise realism but then don't mind the completely retarded admin mod slay explosion effect. Look at me I randomly combusted into the fourth of fucking July, only ugly!

That's all I got for now.

Actually I do, that's what sucks, having to load for a long time then realize that I found another suckfest. Loading isn't fast. I have a P4 3.2ghz with two 512 mb dual channel fast ass ram, thats a 1gig of ram for you non-mathematicians.

I once joined a server, but it took me 15+ minutes (I shit you not) to download a shitload of fucking sounds first, only to find out there was nothing but constant-headshot-killing bots playing there on de_port, one of the worst CS maps, in my opinion (I only played it 2 times so far and each time it frustrated the hell out of me after 5 minutes of playing, so I'm not likely to play the map a 3rd time, if CS at all).

In short, I agreed with you.

    1. I higly agree! The worst part is when the server also downloads a .res to your comp so that the next time you want to make server, then others will have to download the sounds.

Yeah, The UT announcer sounds are cool...in UT - Not in CS.

    2. Just check the server info and don't join if there are too many with 5 in ping...

    3. I think FF itself is ok, it often just turns out to be disturbing when playing on FFA servers. So yeah, a warning would not be bad.

I agree, especially with the sound effects thing. And especially when you have to sit and wait for ages for it to download all these stupid horrible files.

But I usually just find another server when it starts downloading so hmh :G~

I agree with everything, though the first point is way more important to me. It seems that almost half of the servers have these annoying fucking sounds installed which I need to download over and over again. If Steam would be able to give me a clear estimation until it's done, maybe I'd wait. But the progress bar just keeps repeating itself mostly. Also, whenever I DO download a few sounds and connect to another server it just redownloads the same sounds I already downloaded once.

    Motherfuckers.

Steam needs a filter for this kind of shit, really.

loading isnt fast with that setup?

i would think it wouldnt be slow at all with the setup you described...

anyway, when you join a sever you like, throw it in your favorites

that way you can go there and not search for others that risk being bot

    infested/ff enabled

I definately agree on point 1, its becoming crazy how many servers feel the need to have addtional sounds. It was the same with CS however. In addition there seem to be quite a few servers running crazy server side mods, like the warcraft theme where you have to choose a race, magic, and what have you. Shit like that needs to be clearly labelled.

As for point 2, I've never really had an issue with it. I tend to find bots are pretty obviously marked, and if not then the ping is quite a giveaway.

Point 3 is true for public servers filled with idiots, but I don't agree its a universally bad thing.

i have to agree, my 64 bit with dual channel 1 gb (thats 2 gb for you non mathematicians) still takes FUCKING FOREVER to load any server beacuse I spent forever downloading people's CRAP that does not enhance my gaming experience.

    cl_allowdownload 0

That solves the first issue, but you're right, it's a stupid idea to have shite .wavs and .mp3s that just don't belong rammed down your throat.

Thats why I never enjoyed playing CS on the internet. Too much stupid shit to download and too many stupid lammers for my likings. People play like if it was a religion or something instead of just having fun.

Don't they have a feature where you can see a description of the server? UT always had a little window that shows you exactly what settings and mods the server is using when you select it in the server browser.

Right click, view server info. But I still get caught once in a while not checking for bots. I'm not sure if there is a way to check for FF through steam though if it's not in the title.

Right clicking on your bar that has [server Name][Map][Ping] gives you the option to add other columns such as [bots][Password Required][iP Address]

That should help you identify servers with bots.
