exuse my newbish question but what does RAM does for good in games ? faster loading times ? more physics handling ? And I also wanna know what that comp sounds like ? must be like an jetplane
ol builds a new computer what????

with the watercoolers it wont be that loud, a low hum like my current computer. ram helps a little with everything i think. the game can load more of itself into the ram, which is much faster than reading it from the hard drive.
-
My computer is in this really thin shelf so cooling is hard, i think if i got another 6800 id take it out. I'll probably get another for unreal3.
-
i wonder when a 6800 or an x800 are gonna be included with crappy
pc's...like compaqs, or dells. crappy as in run of the mills, and
vid cards like that just come with the system...i know its not much,
but i love my 9800 pro

The fps difference between having 1024 instead of 512 mb in CS:Source is 0. As long as the game don't utilize more than e.g. 512 mb of ram, then it don't matter. If however it does and you only have 512 mb of ram, then it will begin using the swap file on the hdd instead. The hdd is 10-100 times slower than memory, so that results in an fps drop.
It is about the same with loading times. If it has to load stuff into the swap file instead of the ram then the load time is increased.

I cant make sense of that piping. Where is the exit from the cpu block?
-
3 pipes go into the cpu, middle is entrance 2 outside are exits
the rest of the middle tube is hiding behind the big forked one in that picture lol

still a bit low though, working on pushing harder

Screw points, give us Mhz fool!
-
I'd laugh if you kept pushing and your PC melted.
On second thoughts, I'd cry.
-
iv got a stable 550mhz overclock (150x11)
video cards arent handling higher clocks very well but i pushed the memory up 60 and the GPU up 80 to 380/1.06
ram is at like 5-3-3-11, still working on that
so with the latest stuff i got another hundred points in '05, havnt run '03 again yet.
