ok what I heard, its realtime but not running on PS3 hardware ...yet
Playstation 3 DROOL!

I'm pretty positive the Killzone trailer is pre-rendered. E3 is all about marketing and making money and getting the most attention
-
fuck the sony conference was boring
only that stuff with the british guy was cool
anyway yeah, as luka said its all about coming out of this with the most attention, and if that means popping up some prerendered movies then they'll go for it. Still, I think its within the realm of possiblities that it could generate something like that (donno about the particle systems tho, that shit looks fckn sick D:!)

The weapon firing is all fake. When the first gun fires a grenade onto the bridge there is no actual projectile.. just an instant explosion...
Also when the player is shooting under the bridge it is obvious the gun is not producing any effects... just timed sparks and stuff when shooting enemies on top of the bridge.
If this is actual engine footage running on PS3 that we can expect the title to have, then fuck me. But otherwise it looks like pre rendered stuff with first person weapons to fool the public.
-
Indeed, pretty fucking sly to show pre-rendered hyperbole, but oh well. It's still a nice piece of CG, and if the final product's visuals are remotely near that then it'll be ace.
Oh, unless Killzone 2 is as average as Killzone 1.
-
on IGN.com they talk about killzone 2 being all CG and other info
-
Yeah, this is why I don't trust hype
Nobody knows the boundaries of the new consoles, so it's quite easy to be fooled. Having said that, the UT stuff made me do a sex wee. -
I've seen the UT demo running in real-time at GDC on the pc, and it looked amazing. If anyones in the Raleigh, NC area, on june 1st Epic will be showing off their U3 tools at the IGDA Meeting. http://www.igda.org/nctriangle/ I'll be there taking pics
(if allowed) -
if it's fake, i would disappointed with some of the clipping in the video ¬¬
-
I was reading the paper on the way to work this morning and it reckons that the technical specifications are 10x more powerful than that of modern PCs yet it only has 256mb of RAM

if the killzone stuff is CG:
"Pixar recruit those guys!"if the killzone stuff is actual gameplay:

"Screw you Valve, Epic and id!"just kiddin', but damn... it's soooooo amazing!

Quote from D3adlode
I was reading the paper on the way to work this morning and it reckons that the technical specifications are 10x more powerful than that of modern PCs yet it only has 256mb of RAM

Playstation 2 has 32mb of RAM, and a 300MHz processor.
Xbox 1 has 64mb of RAM, and a 733MHz processor.
Considering what the aforementioned consoles manage to produce with such weak specifications (if you think in PC terms), I don't think that this new generation will have any problems creating ridiculously good imagery. As GrayFox said, you cannot compare PC specifications directly to consoles.
-
The killzone video is not ingame, Sony lied again.
-
Just turn your resolution to something like 800 x 600 and lower all texture detail settings and you'll be able to compare the specs a tad better.
-
-
you know what scares me....im looking at screens from getaway 3 and something seems familiar.....
does anyone else remember before gta3 came out for ps2 the screenshots that they presented? they looked like photo quality. i really hope this shit doesnt disappoint
-
The bus bandwidth in consoles is enormous compared to PCs, so they can load textures without much penalty. That's the primary reason why you can't really compare the two.
-
well look at the commercial for san andreas...they look like garbage
so does the game in real life
