    Hello,

    Yeey first post

OK, This is the map that i made with a vriend of mine [Venom Snake]

It is a map for The PC zone contest. --> http://%7boption%7d

The map had to be an iland with a base.

This is the status of the map when we have given it to the contest.

But it is still a beta because we didnt had anymore time to put some detail and plants an trees,...

SO there are still some bugs.

SO other pictures will follow when the map is finished and we will release the map when whe know who has won the contest.

The fps is around 60 on the baddest points of the map.

    SO here are some pictures

Well, the displacements look nice. But I spot a couple of lights with no sources.

The map is looking good. But missing details add more effects like sun, more trees, more stones and et.c

Other than that it looks fine to me.

That vulcano looks really wrong for some reason. I think it's because it gets very narrow near the top. Widen it a bit and make it less steep.

can you make the water say...80% opaque instead of 100%?

    Would look much better imo.

you might want to place some env_cubemaps so that the water will look a lot better

I hate the repetiveness of HL2 water, the fact that it leaves an ugly shoreline border without waves and that it looks like a giant rectangle breaking the illusion of a never ending sea.

Looks cool. But as you pointed out yourself, a bit empty.

Have you guys tested it on a full 24 player server? cuz whith all that water I think it would lagg as hell for medium comps

There's a way to add waves on the shorelines, I think.

With some mist you get an illusion of a never ending sea.

Take a look at FarCry to see how proper island maps should be made. If you can match the detail and sweetness of FarCry, then you got yourself a winner:) Currently there is a long way though...
