Do you own copyright to your work?

if they dont give you credit there are definately laws that say its your property

Everything you do is copyrighted more or less.

There are some rules to what you can and can not put up.

I have had a few sites so i know.

But also some times we on internet tends to give a little slack, so ppl can use stuff for their site or there would be little news writing and a lot of searching the source of the art to ask for permission.

So you can of course do something about it since they didn't ask you for permission to put it up.

Or you can just be glad that they found your piece good enough to illustrate what ever the story was about.

Its all up to you.

I have come face to face with this issue more than once, not particularily that someone stole my work since most of my work is published under CC 2.0 (Creative Commons) http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/

But you should check this out, not all work are needed to put under a licence since it already is copyrighted to it's respective owner, and that means you.

maybe they they didnt know how to contact u, but i would let them know right now and maybe get some kinda deal (free lifetime gamespot accounts for all mapcorians)

I just saw the video on GameSpot, your name was being blocked by the person talking the entire time. It looks as though you aren't the only person that they took a concept from, on all of those other pictures there isn't any credit either. I would e-mail them just to see what's going on.

What you do with your rights is up to you...

Shoot off an email and ask why you weren't asked/given credit. Probably won't amount to anything more, but I think an email about it would make 'em think twice next time, before taking images off the web and not following proper copyright protocol

As at the same time I'm amazed how GameSpot pulled this out since alot of those images in the background are very popular on various console forums and bound to be seen by literally thousands of people from which several know the maker of the image, well all I have to say is thet they are very proud.

But at the same time, I'm not suprised that they don't give a rats ass about those mockups since they are made from other companies rumored products (which is not illegal atleast last time I checked, but if this continues, who knows ) and especially what I find a problem is that there are literally thousands of fans making mock ups about PS3 and Xbox 360 logo that if those are the real names of the systems MS and Sony could be in lot of trouble trying to make a logo that does not resemble anything previously seen in public forums or website, since that lucky SOB who made that logo would get millions for "sony copying his logo design done in MS Paint", do you see what I mean here.

But obviously MS/Nintendo/Sony have all made the name decisions and logos well before they announce anything crucial about the console. But people have been making mockup logos and systems well before any of these consoles were even announced. And people still wonder WHY they don't tell the public the names of the consoles, hmmm... I wonder why.
