Quote from mikezillabut i want to play morrowing out there not ut2k4 D:
yea same, i still prefer the graphics for oblivion, even if the poly counts arent quite on the UT par, thats not everything. i think the art direction is better and i also think UT suffers a bit from the doom3 shiny play-doh looking characters.

Immense.
I agree with mike, slicky and Blaz. Oblivion dosn't look like most new engines. But damn thoose new shots are hot!!
I personally can't wait to play Oblivion, being a big Morrowind fan and all. My only gripe with the art I've seen so far is the cheesy monster design, but Morrowind's monsters weren't much to look at either.
A far as comparing Oblivion's outdoor shots with the UE3 outdoor shots, it's more of a comparison of art than tech. You could make a rich and highly detailed forest in either engine, which I can't wait to explore. So far, Oblivion seems to be going for a deciduous forest look whereas UE3/GoW/Unreal has just shown open plains.
I really dont like the outsides, and i really dont care to play them. I dont own UT04, but from the videos ive seen, the outdoors just looks like a game of tribes, which im not a fan of. The indoors are great though - i had the first UT game, and loved it.

But we are not talking about UT2k4.
The UE3 outdoor shots look nothing like UT2k4's outdoor areas, aside from the fact that there is.. um.. terrain.
Besides, at this point in time, we don't know if the outdoor screenshots are for UT2k7 or that "Gears of War" game. I've seen the same outdoor area being used to demo content for both games.
i expect hl3 to own the fuck out of unreal tournament

True, the oblivion screens look better to me at the moment, but by just comparing the technology the Unreal3 engine is superior I believe.
that looks hella nice, but Epic always finds a way to fall behind the pack when they make their engines, so i have this feeling that well see somthing better from another company soon ![]()
well unreal 2 looked amazing and beyond anything ever concieved when they revealed it.
when it came out it was old hat and sorta crappy.
Except for the conquest mode which sounds promising I'm afraid UT2007 won't be much different from the previous UTs. The series seems to be getting getting less innovation by each sequel ![]()
I think Epic is too hard trying to make engine to others than to make engine for them to make the best damn game ever. They got loads of talent, but they are too committed to make a great engine for different game types.

Epic didnt made U2
Theres not THAT much inovation possible anymore, and any innovation will piss off the entire hardcore group of players or further split up the game
And game making is still their nr 1 job and money income altho I could see that change in the next few years
If it wasn't for the MODs I wouldn't have bought UT2004 and it will probably be the same for UT2004, or I won't but it at all. Even if there is so little information about it so far, I guess you are right, any innovation would piss off the "hardcore players".
I got hopes for the secret game Epic is working on at the moment though.
