Come to think of it, and looking back at RMD's history, it's actually quite surprising that for such a small company, they managed to find a writer, and such a good one at that too.

Usually in small companies you go for the "crucial" positions first, programmer, designer, etc. But by finding Sam Lake, it really propelled RMD to be in the forefront of storytelling with video games and it really gave Max Payne (and Alan Wake / Quantum Break) a very unique feel. It shows they really know and respect what their pillars are.

You know, I really liked Quantum Break, but as I keep looking back to my memories playing it, it really lacks the level of polish Max Payne 1/2 and to a certain extent Alan Wake. They're all phenomenal games, and Quantum Break does a lot right, but the gameplay doesn't feel as right as their previous games. I hope they learned a lot of lessons and implement them in the next game.

I'm yet to play Quantum Break. I really loved Max Payne and Alan Wake so hoping it gives me at least some of that same excellent writing and atmosphere those games were known for.

Another great game but I do prefer Sam Lakes face and iconic smile :D

Imagine a remake for next gen.

I remember playing MP1 with a voodoo 3 lol. Both MP1 and MP2 could be fully loade on a today's video card and there would be still plenty of memory left.

https://www.beyond3d.com/content/interviews/20/2 24 hours and 10 PCs to render lighting lol. 16 years later and we can have better lighting in realtime.

For me Max Payne 2 has always been the best. Better graphics and much better story. And in terms of story, I find it the best written game I have ever played. It’s the only game I replayed so many times.

I still think I prefer the first one since it's more difficult and is really dark and gritty. I didn't play MP2 until a few years ago either so I guess I missed the hype with it. Still, it's an awesome game!

    You played MP3? #curious

Yeah I did and it was alright. Though in MP3 it felt more like a cover shooter and you just used bullet time to pop up and headshot some guy. You died too easily if you were just diving about the place like you did in MP1.

And it feels like a different game altogether.

the only thing I didn't like about #3 was the comic strips done in 3d with horrible post processing slapped on top :(

That was not nice but the worst thing was the terrible handling of streaming levels/chapters. I wanted to re play it many times but that thought always discouraged me

    Your grammar is fine.

But you should definitely play MP1 and 2!

Deffo play MP1 and 2, they're still very relevant games, still timeless noir stories and it still plays great.

MP1: Quick save, kill everyone while slowmo-jumping once, repeat 17 times until you get it perfectly, move on.

Need to replay this someday, been way too long.

By any means do you know where I can get them cheapest online? My wallet are little tight at the moment, but I would try it
