there are some buildings that look fairly poorly done. just blocks with a building texture on it (like the brown building in the third pic). overall, good looking map. gj.

you mean the forth pic? since the yellowish brown house in the 3rd pic looks ok, maybe just some window bays, but looks good

Brown building in 4th pick is obviously some warehouse, so flushing that one out might be tricky, but possible.

    Looks great otherwise.

Nice. Doesn't look like generic HL2 material... I can't wait for release, hope the gameplay elements are as promising as the graphics.

    BlazeeER!

Thanks for all the comments all...I've gotten some great ideas for the map from here.

About the gameplay...that's the hardest part...but I'm pretty sure I have a good layout...and It's not going to be as wide-open as it seems.

i think fletch and mike did something simillar with a ghetto area, might look at their level for some inspiration.

    Funny you ask...

I spend hours a day mapping...and about half that time searching for little things like how to embed grass in a texture. One hour later...I got it.

    [Blocked Image: http://www.sk3maps.com/images/grass.JPG]

I spent two hours alone last night just trying to find a leak on a test-compile. Ends up I made a func_detail out of something I shouldn't have.

In other words..the map is pretty much done...I just want to tweek/optimise/add details to it before I let anybody play in it.

I say I'll have a beta ready in about a week.

    ..thanks for asking

Oh man, those grass things, i know what you mean!

Sometimes they used to sprout themselves on grassy areas, have you noticed that?

Also, I used to search for leaks... before i found the god that is the Pointfile in hammer. That little thing has saved me hours in searching for leaks. I remember in HL1 you could spend a day looking for all of the leaks.

Looking very impressive. One thing no one has mentioned yet if your lighting - very good! The lighting makes that map.

there was a point file for hl1, too...

As for the grass, youll notice two seemingly identical blend textures in the browser, one of which automatically adds the grass sprite things and one that does not.

I think you could get away with using thicker (more) grass. Which would look awsome~~!!

that would require modifying the detail.vbsp, whick sucks.

Will, not necessarily. He could of just found a textures using grass, defined in the css detail.vsbp
