I don't know if you guys are following the hate this game is getting, but it's kind of fascinating. I fail to see where Tim, the dude who's directing the game is being an asshole, or anti-feminism? Why is social media falling on of this guy like he's the anti-christ? He noticed a certain pattern in our current society, politically we're loosing the middle ground, centrist views are increasingly few and far between, you're either part of the far left club, or far right. He imagined a futuristic utopianism world where that pattern was extrapolated to insanity, and he wrote a fictional piece and built a game around it. Saw some people call it cheap writing, I for one am interested to see where he's taking it, but ultimately... it's a video game.

This whole situation is reminding me when Robert A. Heinlein wrote the original Starship Troopers book in the 50's, the world still being fresh out of the WW2, he was criticized for promoting militarism and even fascism. Whereas, the point of the book was to give people a glimpse of what such a world could look like, doesn't necessarily mean advocating for it.

It's been more than that, he's kinda been a piece of shit to a lot of people.

Besides that even, how do you even make a cyberpunk story where "the FEMINAZIS have taken over!!"? To do that is to ignore what cyberpunk even is. Cyberpunk is specifically about the exact things Gamergate fought against, which is to say it's about systemic oppression, the issues of late capitalism, so on and so forth. It's like making a Deus Ex game that goes "Actually, the NSF were the bad guys", like what is it going to say? Equality is bad?

wait, where can you read about the story of the game?

As beautiful this game is, I still have no idea what the gameplay is all about. Hope they show more soon.

Uh? I don't understand this as that guy doesn't say that at all in his video, he's condemning the woman tout-court so

The director of the game when he went on the Intel/pcgamer stage seemed apologetic and explained the background to the game quite differently from it "being a world where feminists won" or whatever.

So from what I understand, and until it's more clear what the game is about, I stand by my belief that was a smart PR stunt to get noticed.
