Thing I love the most is the people behind it, all involved have a sonic modding background, they've built custom engines for 2d sonic games, made fan games and these are the people behind the mobile versions of the sonic games, which are pretty damn good.

I know this is a complete nostalgia circle jerk, but couldn't they have adjusted the volume levels on some of the sounds, some of them are kind of piercing the ear

If you're a fan of sonic I'd also suggest the game Freedom Planet.

Aye, looks really promising. Great they're going all in on the nostalgia in a proper way (unlike Sonic 4)

This how you review a game:

Quote To put that in slightly less grandiose terms, Mania is Sonic without 20-odd years of slowly accumulating bullshit.

They need to do Sonic's own version version of Super Mario Maker. I imagine fans would enjoy that.

This does look good. Reminds me of being very young playing Sonic 2 on my Megadrive.

Played it last week on my NEW NINTENDO SWITCH FUCK YEAH :D

Really loved it. it's not a 10/10 for me because them remade the level I hate the most from the franchise (Oil Ocean, seriously ???)

    But the ost... wow !

There is some silly boss fight and some of the levels like the 2 from Sonic CD are fucking too busy on screen.

It just made me remember how good Sonic 3&K was and that they didn't manage to make a better one since. RIP Sanic Team haha.

I beat this game twice on my switch already, lol. Perfect little game to take on the road too.

I'm a huge S3&K fan, and whereas Mania doesn't beat that game for a plethora of reasons, it IS the Sonic game that fans have been asking for literally decades. It does suffer from pacing problems, you'll jump from one level to the other with no given reasons whatsoever, at least on previous games they would do a crude cinematic to explain why you'll be playing a massive spaceship in the clouds on the next level. Like, on older games, you'd start on the green hills, go to the desert, then the sky ruins connect you to the big egghead massive spaceship in the sky then you're in space pursuing Dr Robotnic, yeah I know it's silly af, but at least there was an attempt to give the game some flow, unfortunately Mania doesn't have that.

It was really interesting to play some Sonic levels that I knew very well, only to realize that the design has been tweaked here and there, they're usually a bit longer too.

The soundtrack is fucking amazing, it's so good I actually sometimes just play it on the background while I work, perfect groove to put you in the zone imho.

I basicaly feel the same way as you about this one and I miss the small pieces of story S3&K had, it made the game more mature and interesting. Like the Death egg plug intoo the volcano in the background of the Lava Reef level (which is my favorite of all <3)

Replaying with Tails right now, it's cool to see that the game keeps the previous special stage you already made (some of them are really tough ^^ )

Also I was looking for 2d maps of the megadrive games and I found this jewel :

    http://www.soniczone0.com/

You have all maps from S1, 2, 3&K and CD and I already lost several hours just looking at them :D. You also have all the musics !!

    => Here for S3 : http://www.soniczone0.com/games/sonic3/downloads/

I would love to find the same for the master system version
