There's a demo for Resident Evil 7 currently available on PS4, although it isn't actually part of the full game. It's sort of PT part 2, pretty much.

Why and what is this Biohazard stuff I keep seeing on the end of RE names?

Resident Evil used to be called Biohazard in Japan.

    Quote Capcom's Chris Kramer explains:

In late 1994, Capcom Entertainment in the US was starting to ramp up marketing plans for the game that would eventually become known as Resident Evil in the US. Capcom Japan had let us know that the name of the game was going to be ‘Biohazard' in Japan, but I pointed out to the person who ran marketing at the time that it would be next to impossible for Capcom to register the name in the US.

As an example, I pointed out that a crappy DOS-based game had just come out in the US called ‘Biohazard' (not to mention the New York hardcore band of the same name) and that we'd never be able to secure the mark. As a result, the head of marketing held a company-wide contest to come up with a new name for the game.

The winner of that competition was, of course, Resident Evil, being a pun on the fact the first game was set in a mansion. For the record, Kramer voted against it, saying the name was "super-cheesy".

Biohazard was the original name for Resident Evil games in Japan.

This doesn't look like a RE… I mean the brand could lend itself to pretty much anything horror, but right now is not clear if it's connected to the main saga. Which I think is the most messed up IP ever. Which is the reason I only played the first one.

I'm pretty sure they explain how and why they chose RE for international market in All Our History ;)

Resident Evil 4 didn't look like a resident evil game either, and many consider it one of the best games ever.

Also, you only played the first one?? You seriously never played 2 or nemesis? You should try them if you haven't, they're timeless classics.

It's still called Biohazard in Japan! The Japanese name for this is Biohazard 7: Resident Evil.

They're not exactly hiding that this is mostly inspired by Silent Hills but it could be interesting.

For the older games, Resident Evil 2 was great and RE4 pioneered so much for console shooters. Ah, the era when Capcom could do no wrong.

No was the time of no money and pirates games (16-17 young) and can't remember probably my computer wouldn't run it. Then they just messed up the narrative so much with so many side stories, reboots, that I never wanted to even try it (plus old graphics).

RE4 being different, I still want to try (is in my steam list)

Capcom is moving forward, not re-doing old games is a good sign!

Looks much more interesting and proper than the action packed 5 and 6. 6 was an insult to the original games and played more like gears of war than RE.

I can feel the RE DNA in this, so I might actually pick it up if it turns out to be good~

Dude... the game's awesome! Played for about 2 or 3 hours tonight. Resident Evil as a franchise is back, full force!

Spoiler I love they brought back the "nemesis" system!

So far, it's really impressing me, it's back to the roots but in a very refreshed and modern way. Recommend everyone getting this.

I'm really glad to see the positive news about this. Probably going to pick it up this weekend.

Was super tempted to watch a couple of streams on twitch because I was curious to see some more, but decided against it so I didn't spoil any cool moments.

This is basically FPS RE1, I think mapcore will like it!

And yeah, it's getting really well reviewed, which is no surprise, it nails what it needs to nail.

I watched couple of gameplay videos silver time ago, and tried a week ago the PC demo to see if it runs on mine, send to do well.

Meant to post about it but didn't get the chance.

Although I only got the time to play one game, is pretty solid. Was quite tense.

I get the impression that it's based on the idea of you dying as a means to go forward and understand the puzzles, not sure if I got it wrong.

Finished it tonight! Amazing to see Capcom bringing this franchise to life again, to its roots.

Really fun game, haven't crapped my pants like this in a while, the pacing of the game is really well done, they managed to implement the survival horror and action bits perfectly, I'm afraid to say more because of spoilers, just make sure you give this a go, we're gonna be talking about this game for years to come.
