I feel you @KoKo5oVaR. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy but the way France reached the finals is questionable. I've lost all interest in the tournament because we have a final with two teams that should not have been there. Especially Portugal, which has nothing to do with my dislike for Ronaldo. I mean, they've only won one game and they are in the finals. German also got cheated yesterday, it's as simple as that.

Still, after all the troubles in France I do think it's nice for the people that they are in the finals.

Come on dudes, the French team is good and we already beat the german team few months ago!

So I'm very happy we reached the final and I'm really happy I was able to have a champagne shower in the pub where I watched the match

Ronaldo is hurt and replaced within 25 minutes. That's a sad way to go. You don't wish that for anbody. I feel for him, I really do. He may be a prick, but it's the finals, he should have been there. That's like one of the highest achievements possible in football.

Was hoping for Ronaldo tears but that was too early. Kinda rooting for Portugal now.

The most boring and undecisive country to watch wins the cup. Sums up this tournament pretty well.

Reminds me of Greece in 2004 but the fact that they won the final without Ronaldo for most of the time redeems them a bit in my book.

Yeah, it shows that football has changed. This entire tournament is proof of that. It's all about teams and not individual talent. Coaches don't take chances, they play it safe. Teams are defensive and careful. If France would have lined up it's two excellent offensive wing players from the start and put some pressure on Portugal, especially after Ronaldo dropped out, they should have easily been able to win.

Dutch football ain't like that and we, obviously, missed this change. I don't think we'll make it to the WC as well. Total Football is in our DNA and that won't hold up if everybody plays like this. Our mentality is that attack is the best defense and look where that brought us in this new football. Time to watch some highlights on YT and slowly drift into sleep dreaming about the glory days.

NJ Portugal! Totally deserved imo, they are survivors.

We can bitch all we want about Portugal not playing the best football, but like it or not, they were champions by their own efforts, specially playing without Ronaldo. When Brazil was in a similar situation the team couldn't hold it and lost 7-1 lol.

Certainly true for some teams, especialy those that have only a few top players if any. But i wouldn't say it's a general rule. Germany played very attractive football for the last couple tournaments and still was succesful. Infact Germany often dropped the ball when our coach decided to play it safe like in the games against Spain and Italy.

I enjoyed watching Germany, Wales, Iceland and Belgium. So yes, there are certainly exceptions. Still, I feel the general trend is what I described earlier.

    FeelsGoodMan. PORTUGAL!!!

In all seriousness, we might not have played the best looking football but I believe our players put everything on the field. The team wasn't completely solid in the begining but they grew as a team so much. I can't agree when people say we played anti-football for most of the tournament, we had a lot of chances of winning those first games, the ball just wasn't hitting the net!

This could obviously have gone either way, but to say Portugal doesn't deserve it is just stupid. Sorry baguettes, I know how it feels to lose at home, but this was looooong overdue. All portuguese people including me suffered so much during that horrible 2004 final, I'll never forget this day.

To win it, you gotta beat every team you face. If you can't beat them, you won't win.

Maybe it's different in Portugal, I don't know. But down here, 3 draws in the group, a 3rd place, lucky advance due to new tournament setup (you would have been out 4 years ago), again 2 draws that had to be decided by penalties, isn't exactly considered beating them.

They did grow as a team, I'll give you that :)

Yeah, what I want to say tho is that while we didn't exacly beat them in regular time, truth is NO ONE beat us during the tournament, thats gotta mean something, and to me it's not the anti-football thing. Today we were blessed once more by Rui Patricio (GK) our hero, but before that Pepe was an hero, when Renato put us back in the game he too was an hero, just to name a few.

The fact that we won vs France (could very well be our nemesis in recent history), in France, WITHOUT our star player Ronaldo, against all odds and after 90 minutes and all the international trash talk, I gotta admit it feels WAY TO GOOD to be portuguese right now. To me personally, it feels like this was the only possible outcome, it couldn't have gone any other way, everything feels too fucking perfect.

Everyone is still outside 2am and its monday tomorow.
