Once is the french name of this animal. In english, it's a snow panther or irbis, I think.

It's a panther who lives in asian mountains, mostly in the Himalaya. It isn't an ocelot or a jaguar. It's a particular panther.

"Panthere"? I read that as 'Pant Here' and thought it was a drawing of a designated recuperation spot for jungle cats. Yes, by now I have guessed that is French for Panther .

    Really nice, btw.

Haha, indeed, it's the french name for panther (but pronunciation is the same). All names on my sketches are french, I didn't edit them before posting, sorry.

Also, "puma" equal to cougar. Unless "puma" exist in english... I'm not sure... I understand English better than I speak it

here's some stuff i did about 3 months ago. i would have worked more on the face with a scene and everything, but i got preoccupied and decided it's best to show as it is. the second image is one of many doodles, i felt it was worth uploading for sheer amusement.

The first one is nice despite there are some anatomic defects. E.g. the chin is too large (& too round) or the nostril too small, and so on

    But overall, it's nice.

actually it was painted from reference. there are errors yes, but his nostrils, and for that matter, most of his face actually looked like that. take a look at black people, they have a different structure than white. the chin to cheek transition could have been better, and his nose does not really fit. his eyes look dead (but the orange esque eye-white he has is genuine), and i had a bit of trouble with getting proper lighting on the hat.

(this post has been moved from its own thread to this one by me)

I love browsing through this thread!

    I got inspired to mess with photoshop whilst looking around in here. It's not usual for me to do a digital painting (as much as I love the feeling that comes with good results!), but I was toying with some brush settings and got a very nice mist that I just had to sillouhette over. One thing led to another, and so on;

I am quite happy with it, as simple as it is, and I got to use some of my custom brushes for something other than texture work (the bushes are actually made from triangles!)

This image was not planned or pre-imagined, as I have much difficulty working to an end in paintings; like I said, I found a nice mist brush and laid in some silouhettes, which happened to be hut-shaped, and then put in some trees...and it went from there.

    Happy mistakes:

    Quote

The grass/bushes on the ground was initially meant to look like flat ground fading into the distance, but the large opacity shifts gave it a graded bush look, so I redrew it with that in mind.

The waterfall was originally meant to be a reflective pool, but the result of a mistaken smudge made me think it looks a lot better (and more appropiate) as a hint of a waterfall.

I'd love to do more of these, but the fact that I can't easily put down in paint what is in my head really frustrates me The things I end up doing that look good are usually results of a directionless experiment...am I alone, or is that common? Is that a stage on the way to being able to draw to an end?

    Thanks for looking.

Hi e-freak, I like the bottom two landscapes, and the rocks on the left. They do feel to me to be missing some small thing, to make them 'real'...maybe an extra aspect to each picture, a small detail, a bit of texture...I am not sure. The rocky crevice is great, nice colour.

I had another spurt in Photoshop tonight. This time I actually had things on my mind when starting, although the finished product is nothing like what I expected to end up doing

    Two images, variations in colour:

I prefer the red one, personally...but my mind has been a bit 'evil' lately.

I like this one and the gloomy atmosphere you have rendered, with a certain fantasy

The last two paintings are good. I prefer the red one, too .

If you added an orange tip to that cigarette and made the character a navy blue with some orange highlights it would look a lot more dynamic. I like it though, cool style.

I had tested to add highlights... without succes. I really have a very, very poor skill with colors. Thence, I keep the B&W.

But you have totally reason, that's a good comment!

I just added an earphone and I remade the ear.

    [Blocked Image: http://pix.nofrag.com/9/3/c/78b66fdd7539e4a3d749206bb4211.jpg]

I tested again to add colors yet. Here is the color version but it's faulty, don't you? ^^

I forgot to edit the cigarette

Otherwise, here is another old painting done for a comic strip. I think I'll add details and highlights when I'll get spare time...
