Not being sure of the quality of your work isn't necessarily a sign of your work being poor though Daan0. Some people are arrogant about their own work, some are confident, others are quite negative about it. All these three could have exactly the same quality of work, just different mentalities. Obviously its best to be confident (though not arrogant), but you could still be producing commercial quality stuff without thinking so yourself. One of the benefits of peer review and feedback, I always think

They help you out with room and board. You shouldn't let not living in texas stop you from applying.

Did you co-worker already have an established career in the game development community, published titles on his back, etc? or did he factor in the cost of living in Plano, tx vs the salary offer?

Personally, for me living and breathing creating game content is what I do, and if they offer a intern program that will get me the experience I need to pursue a career in this great industry, then i'll eat ramon noodles for a month if i have too

i talked to one of my coworkers today, he was offered a job by gearbox and he laughed at them when they told him how much they where offering to pay him. i'm not going to disclose who told me this, but he said he'd never work for gearbox. He says their employees are way under payed for the work they do and they don't meet industry standards in pay. i.e. someone who has the potential for senior status or lead status would be payed entry level. which is not good.just something to think about before submitting your resume to them.

no offence to current employees there, its just what was told to me today.

Don't even bother posting unsubstantiated bullshit like this on the forums. Seriously. You're so incredibly wrong it makes me ill.

Gearbox pays well, really well. So well I haven't even thought about working at another company in three years. I won't be looking for many many years to come, if at all.

i appologize for comming across as an attack, but i promise you that i mean no harm.

if you feel threatened, i am sorry. i'm just trying to warn people of what i know, you would probably do the same if you heard something about a company and saw people interested. it was not my place to post it publicly in this thread.

rd, please don't get on my bad side, i don't have a problem with you.

I don't feel threatened lol. I just don't want people to not apply for the cogs program based on skeptical information.

Why post something like that on a forum you knew Gearbox people frequented?

Getting a job in the US would be damn awesome. But I think it would be a lot of problems getting visa and stuff

Oh definitely. It would be hard, but life moves on: a new country and a job designing levels would await - irresistable.
