The Witness

Played it for a few hours yesterday and so far I am absolutely in love with it.
Getting stuck at a panel, going somewhere else to clear your thoughts and take a crack at another panel and then suddenly getting an idea for the previous panel happened multiple times yesterday, creating a really neat and rewarding loop. Also helps when the environments look so dayum good

Also, this is a really good girlfriend co-op like game. Played it with my gf yesterday, and even though she's much smarter than me then we actually moments or panels that one of us were better at, rather than her just solving everything

Anyway, think we stopped playing just as shit is about to get more difficult, but so far it totally lives up to the hype

Is it just the two of you playing on one screen but playing together with one controller? It's not actually 2 player?

Nah it's just a one player game, but one that's quite well suited to have another person sitting by and pitch in (though I'm probably gonna try and play most of it on my own :v)

Awesome man. Might get this! It looks ace.

ahah, that's like us last night one to one!
Great game man, I keep telling her to stop and take a screenshot, lmao.

I might as well purchase this. Braid is one of my favourite puzzle games of all time and after reading your reviews, I'm even more inclined to get Tha Weedness. Let's see what mr. JBlow has been cooking.
-
I have read all the negative reviews today on steam. Funny how people can use "the whole game is" after playing 0.5 hours

Anyway, a lot of negative reviews seems from users that don't like using a brain which makes me really want to buy the game.
First I need to finish some freelance work

this game has a LOT to it that isn't immediately apparent. I started going through some of the data out of curiosity, and it looks like I've only scratched the surface in terms of story after ~20 hours and finishing most main puzzles.
If you want the game completely fresh, don't look at the subtitles. The game has something really interesting I have yet to find that makes it much, much more interesting.

lol... at the same time, it's also Steam's top seller since they opened pre-orders last week http://store.steampowered.com/search/?filter=topsellers
-
Yeah I can't see how they wouldn't be able to get enough money for another game.
People is probably pirating it because of what I was saying… it seems too minimal and not varied in terms of activities that probably people are afraid to waste money.

When Jon posted on twitter about it, steamspy was reporting 23000 copies sold. Steamspy still only says 38k copies sold.
-
One of the latest tweets from Jon:
QuoteIt's hard to talk about numbers without breaking NDAs, but The Witness is on track to sell more in a week than Braid sold in its first year,
-
Yeah what clankill3r reported. From the numbers above its something like 500-1000 copies per hour in the first three days, and it's just steam. Not something to complain I would say. And he's going to publish on iOS as well (or is it already?), where those kind of games do well.
i know it bites to know you're being ripped off, but like I think all of us can agree, pirated copies are not 1:1 to sold copies. Maybe if they put out a demo would be different.
-
Any word on a VR release? The game looks very well optimized to run on there.
-
I know Jonathan has a HTC Vive. I expect that they work on bug fixes for something like 2 months. If a iOS release is still planned then that probably follows and after that VR. This is just a guess but I won't expect it anytime soon, I estimate in 4 months.
