With some overlays that texture could turn out pretty sweet ingame!
TEXTURE CHALLENGE TWO : DIRTY FUTURE METAL
-
-
Hmmm...
Some tips I get is, do more sharpening and some say less sharpening!?
Well I think I will do just about regular sharpening, like what I do normaly,
and that is a bit less than the last texture.
And yeah Klein, I fucked up the lights and will se what I can figure out...
And what do u mean with "some overlays" Marcos?
Thanx for comments...

You see those shiny and bright monitors and buttons? It's created by overlay textures

My advice to you is that you try getting sharp and crisp edges by working cleanly and carefully. Sharpen filter might be helpful to some extend but it screws up the image in numerous ways (adds a ton of unwanted colors if you overdo it, drastically increases black and white values ...etc) Its not really worth it unless you use it in really low and controled doses on a seperate layer.
-
Thanx for advice Klein, I will have another go and see if I can be more
gentle with it.
But...
Quote from MarcosYou see those shiny and bright monitors and buttons? It's created by overlay textures
~It might be me who is a little dim here,
but do you mean setting the layer to overlay, if so, thats not what
I have used, I use airbrush to create the glow effect and shine in the monitors...
Do mean it needs more glow and shine maybe?

-
an overlay is a seperate texture that is black except for the parts you want to glow in game.... so you do a texture where your lights are off, with no glow etc.... and then make an overlay where you just put in the parts you want to glow and then add the glow effect in there!
-
Aha!
Bling! Know I have learned something, thanx...

kill me.

luks pretty cool but im guessing as u said kill me theres something wrong with it ;o~

Not too shabby Klein

-
Hey that rules!
It could work as a floor or walkway aswell...
-
It was going to be metal... Then it turned out not being metal. Just pretend it's metal. It's kinda dirty future anyway, so that's two thirds.

Looks cool I guess, except for those kind of "pillars" which confuse me a bit

Oh and welcome to mapcore

-
Hey, God! ups, Gob, that texture has a nice surface.
But cant get my head around the "pillar" shapes,
guess with some nice arcitechture they might turn out right.
You'r right, it looks more like stone than metal, same prob. I have
with my entry...
Good work, welcome to mapcore...

-
it's because there's too much grease....
paint in some more flat greys with a large grime brush so the stonish structure fades away a little more.
pretty good though =)
-
The, erm, pillar-ish thingies I made like that because, well... Dirty future walls, how could they lack incredibly odd shapes?
I was going to add a ton of caution stripes too, to piss off Mike, but he'd break my leetle skull.
But on a more serious not, I went for depth in the texture, disregarding practical use.And yeah, it's stone.
I made it, left the computer for a while and when I got back I realised that while making it I got kinda lost. I won't be working on it further though, I have other textures to work on./me cowers before kleineh

Thanks for the welcomes.
